Donald Cooper Sr.
July 9, 1930 - December 12, 2021
Donald L. Cooper, Sr, son of Samuel J Cooper, Sr. and Savilla Cole Cooper, was born on July 9, 1930, in Baltimore Maryland and was raised in East Baltimore. He was 91 years old on his birthday in July 2021. He attended Baltimore public schools, but dropped out before graduating. However, he eventually received his High School GED. Donald enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for several years. Upon returning home, he became a fire fighter in the Baltimore City Fire Department where he served for 25 years, and where he was known as “Super, Duper, Donald Cooper.”. He retired in 1980; then opened a package goods store, in Old Town Mall, with his brother James. Eventually, the store was sold and he retired permanently. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with dementia, and began to decline over several years. He leaves to mourn: his sons, Donald, Jr., Kevin and Wayne, his sisters, Doris Hill, Carolyn Fugett and Beverly Cooper, his brother, James Cooper; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His wife, Alease, sons, Michael and Ronald, daughter, Belinda, brothers, Samuel, Jr. and Robert and sisters, Charlotte Sullivan, Jean Jones and Elaine White preceded him in death.
