Della Mae Rembert was born on February 16, 1957 in Mobile, Alabama to the late James and Armantha (Williams) Thompson. She departed this life on December 20, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry, sister Diane and husband Jerry. She was a member of the Greater Grace World Church o Moravia Drive in Baltimore, Maryland. Della graduated from George P. Austin High school (Linden Alabama), Dundalk Community College (Associate Degree), Coppin State University (Bachelor's Degree) and the University of Maryland (Master's in Social Work). Della's philosophy was "You are the Author of Your Life." Della retired from the Maryland Department of Public Safety as a Social Worker. She was one of the best social workers working with the women at the Maryland Institute for Women for over 20 years. Della taught Social Work Courses at Coppin State College/University as an adjunct professor. She also served on the Board of Social Work at Coppin State University. Della loved being a social worker helping others. She also enjoyed her monthly meetings with members of her social work organizations. Della made friends no matter where she was. Many of the high school classmates have called to offer prayers and condolences. They too mentioned how kind and friendly she was. Her lifelong friend was (Annie) Josephine Witherspoon. Others included Valory Moore, Raymonda Adams, Jacqueline Perry, Lauren Blackwell and Curline Addison. Della leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Lavada K. Thompson of Baltimore, Maryland; goddaughter, Charli Clarke; sisters, Ella Thompson of McDonough, Georgia, Joyce Thompson (Clarence) of Baltimore, Maryland, Linda Faye Thompson (Charles Brooks) of Baltimore, Maryland, Brenda Johnson (Donald) of Sweetwater, Alabama, and Janice Adams of Linden, Alabama; brothers, Donald Thompson of Montgomery, Alabama and Maxfield Thompson of Linden, Alabama; nephews, Cedric Thompson, Andre Rogers, Christopher Brooks, Charles David Brooks Jr., Herbert Johnson Marcanthony (Scarlett) Spears, Lydell (Tony) Thompson, Kelvin Thompson, Bryan Thompson and Marcus Washington; nieces, Ciara Thompson, Eddwina Harris, Tyesha Thompson, Giovanna Thompson, Jasmine Adams and Bianca Adams; great-nieces and nephews Layla, Treon, Karon, Aubry Akira, Matthew, Gabrielle, Destiny, Herbert Jr., Chistopher Jr., Cayson, Romelo, Cameron, Braxton, Olivia, Preston, Aubree, Mikayla, Kelsey, Terrance, James, Dearius and Braxton; and her many friends and extended families including the Robinsons, Cooks, Witherspoons and Armstrongs.
