    Cynthia (Baby) Payne

    September 7, 1952 - July 1, 2021

Dear Family & Friends, My name is CYNTHIA PAYNE but most know me by “Baby”. I entered this world September 7, 1952, to Laura Johnson and Willie Payne. I was raised in Baltimore, MD lived here all my life and received my educational background in the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. I pursued my working career at The State of Maryland as a Court Clerk and then on to be a 911 dispatcher until I retired. There wasn’t a time when I would give up traveling to New York City, Virginia or New Jersey with my cousin Carolyn Wilson. I loved spending time with my family playing cards, watching them dance and just have a good ole time. Being the person I am I always had a smile on my face no matter what it was “I SMILED THROUGH IT”. Growing up with my grandmother, siblings, friends, and cousins on Shooter Street and Ashland Avenue was nothing but a family affair at all times. There was no place like “DOWN THE HILL”. I liked to get up in the morning, get myself together and watch my favorite shows THE PRICE IS RIGHT and FAMILY FEUD. Along with this lengthy illness that I had God still made a way for me; having people by my side to help me, but my love “FACE” and my baby girl, my only child Angie, who proceded me in death did their best. I met Reginald (My Face) in 1998, my life partner for many years, my soul mate, my ride or die! When you seen him, you saw me; rain, snow or sunshine “He had me!” Thanks my love for 23 years of love that you always showed me. Cynthia was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Knight; parents, Laura Cook-Johnson and William Payne; grandmother, Edna Payne; sister, Myra Chew; brothers, Billy Payne and Wilbert “Stink” Payne. Baby leaves to always cherish her memory: life partner, Reginald “Face” Shelton; grandsons, Kenjuan Dunn and Jordan Jefferson; great-grandson, Kenjuan Jr.; brothers and sisters, Howard “Nookie” Payne, Nathaniel “DeeDee” Sharp, Myron “Man” Chew, Anthony ”Timmy” Chew, Antionette “Doll” Chew, Wanda Haynes (Jordan), Chenille; aunt, Addie Johnson; uncle, Vern Cook (Naomi); nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
