Charlotte Wing

Charlotte Deellear Wing was the only child of Charles and Deellear Morallis Wing. She was born on February 19, 1948, in Baltimore City and departed her earthly home on June 17, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Following the death of her father, her mother married Elijah (Jack) Royster. Jack loved and supported Charlotte until his passing. Charlotte was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Western High School. While attending Western, she was a member of the school band and was recognized during her graduation ceremony for perfect attendance during her years there. She continued her education by attending Hampton University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. Charlotte also earned her Master’s degree from Hampton University. Additionally, she completes several courses towards a Doctoral degree from Morgan State University. Her career in the Baltimore City Public Schools began shortly after returning home to Baltimore. Charlotte was a special educator at Lombard Middle School and later became a counselor there. Charlotte was promoted and became the Assistant Principal of Patterson High School. In 1994, Charlotte was promoted again, this time, as Principal of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. During her years there, she continued the partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Administrators to enhance the Dunbar Hopkins Program. This program encouraged students to pursue the Allied Health Professions and other levels of higher education. Charlotte was awarded several acknowledgements through the Maryland State Department of Education for being an outstanding Principal and leader in education. As a result of these achievements, she became the Director of School Counselors for Baltimore City Public Schools Central Office. She chaired several projects in conjunction with the Baltimore City Schools Administrators-Central Office. After 37 years of service, Charlotte retired from the Baltimore City Public School system. Her early religious background began at the Mt. Winans United Methodist Church where she worshiped as a child and during part of her adult life. She later joined Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served as Co-Chair for the 50th Anniversary and was a member of the Staff Parish Committee. Charlotte was initiated into the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. (38 Stars) in 1985. She was also a member of The Baltimore Chapter Continental Societies, Inc., L.A.C.E, and The Coronas. She was a sociable person and people loved being around her. As a true fashion icon, she was always dressed to impress, and her style was impeccable. She enjoyed being with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren engaging in social activities and special trips. Charlotte leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Kimberly Camphor, son-in-law Lenny Camphor, grandson Markez Camphor, granddaughter Kennadi Camphor, cousins and devoted friends. Her infectious smile, personality and friendship will truly be missed.
