Charlette D. Jones

Mrs. Charlette Dorothea Jamison Jones, daughter of James K. Garvin and Lorraine Garvin departed this Earthly Life Journey on December 23, 2022. Charlette was born on October 15, 1958, in Gastonia, NC. At an early age, she attended the Center Baptist Church in the city where she became an active member and sang in the church choir. She was educated in the Gaston County school system and graduated from the Ashbrook High School in 1976. She also attended Gaston College and began her vocation working at Threads Textiles industrials. After a number of years working in the textiles, she began another vocation in the food service industry for a short period of time where her path crossed with Mr. Jeffrey O. Jones. They became married on August 20, 1983, in Gastonia, NC. From this marriage union of 39 years, two children were born, Ms. Nakia M. Jones and Mr. Adrien Jamel Jones. She was a military wife and Charlette loved life on a broad scale. She loved serving Jesus Christ through singing, and for decades, she with her family would travel during the month of August to various cities to the Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey National Convention of Choirs and Choruses where she would enjoy singing alongside National recording artists. This was one of the many joys in her life. Mrs. Jones was passionate about cooking. She prepared delicious Southern style meals home cooked meals that many enjoyed and complemented often. She had fun in the kitchen. She enjoyed helping people and she would listen to many and give them helpful encouraging advice. She was adored by many of her co-workers at the Rite Corporation where she served and excelled many tasks throughout her over 18 years. She made many genuine lifelong friendships, and she kept an often positive and friendly persona about herself. She was always ready to talk and listen. She brought a humorous answer to make you laugh. Charlette loved and enjoyed her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her fun-loving granddaughter Arayah (Snookie) and her darling daughter Nakia. They enjoyed shopping at the various stores and malls. Charlette enjoyed life graciously. She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy: Her husband of 39 years Minister Jeffrey O. Jones. Her sons; Christopher E. Jones, Adrien J. Jones. Her daughter; Nakia M. Jones and Granddaughter; Arayah M. Scott-Jones. Her father and mother; Mr. James K. and Lorraine Garvin. Sisters; Regina Ellison (Alonzo), Alesia Jones. Brothers; Kenneth, Dartanuall, and Deurick Garvin. Eleven (11) nieces and nephews, Twenty (20) great nieces and nephews all from Philadelphia, PA. Aunts; Ms. Emily Gladney of Philadelphia, PA, Ms. Betty Sue Garvin of Gastonia, NC, Ms. Florence Garvin of Gastonia, NC. Uncle; Mr. Rusfus Williams (Maryanne) of Gastonia, NC. She also is survived by a great host of loving cousins, distant family and friends. She leaves to embrace her precious, irreplaceable memories.
