    Betty Jean Williamson

    December 1, 1940 - July 29, 2021

Betty Jean Williamson, born Jean Connor in Baltimore, Maryland on December 1, 1940, was the daughter of the late Elisha Connor and the late Brittanous Connor Brown and her husband, Sylvester F. Brown. Surrounded by her family, Betty received the promise of eternal life just before sunset on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Betty was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools, where she attended Eastern High School. On July 26, 1957, at the age of 16, Betty married the love of her life, the late Harold Emmanuel Williamson, Sr. Five children were born from this union: Kathy, Cynthia, Harold Jr., Wayne and Christopher. After giving her life to Christ in the 1980’s, Betty attended Manna Bible Baptist Church and went on to become a charter member of Genesis Bible Fellowship Church. There she served in various capacities such as the Leadership Wives ministry and the flower ministry, where she used her talents to design altar flowers. Betty deeply loved her family; her family deeply loved her. She enjoyed spending holidays, sharing meals and celebrations, and time at the beach with them as often as she could. She was a wonderful, devoted and Godly mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. We are all beneficiaries of her fervent prayers on our behalf. Betty also loved horses, crossword puzzles, Sanford and Son, the Jackson Five and westerns. Bat Masterson was her favorite. Throughout all of the joys and challenges Betty faced, particularly after the death of her husband in May 2000, her love for Jesus Christ never wavered. She shared about her Savior with everyone she met. She loved Him wholeheartedly and unashamedly. She worshiped Him until He ushered her into His presence. Her memory will be cherished by her family: two daughters, Kathy R. Bruce (John) and Cynthia C. Woolard (Irven, Sr.); three sons, Harold E. Williamson, Jr. (Brenda), Wayne G. Williamson (Abimbola), and Dr. Christopher W. Williamson (Dorena); eighteen grandchildren, Kathie (Lance), John D. (Tori), Harold, III, Marlon, Sr. (Dorothea), Danice, William, Jeanna – who was named after Betty – (Darius), Nicole, Dalexis, Irven, Jr. (Tammy), Andrew, Christopher Dante, Christa (Beau), Jordan (Maddison), Chase, Sydney, Paris and Charis; twenty great-grandchildren, Daniel, Dajia, Kennedy, Pharoah, Robert, Almighty, Peace, Ryawna, Daylin, Arabia, Da’Kera, Promise, Alasia, Ethan, Raigan, Alwise, AKing, Marlon, Jr., Shykim and Anasia; one great-great grandchild, Ra’Moni; one sister, Katie Adler; cousin Cynthia Askew; niece, Tanya Middleton, who was like a daughter to her; sisters-in-law, Cloanne Smoot and Madeline Williamson; special family friends, Tonia Wells and Harriett Inyangson; special friends Doris Hall and Deborah Whye; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
