    Bernice Bertha Mae Parker

    February 15, 1939 - April 10, 2022

BERNICE BERTHA MAE PARl(ER (Big Red) as she was affectionately known by her family, was called home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2022. Bernice was bo1n to the late Zingo Terry and Daisy Lee Quarles on February 15, 1939. Preceding her in death was her husband of 49 years, Thomas P. Parker. Bernice accepted Christ at an early age at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Richmond, VA where she was an active member of the missionary ministry. Bernice was educated in the Richmond Public School system and was a graduate of Maggie L.Walker High School. She was a Dietician Food Service Worker at McGuire Hospital, where she worked for 29 years serving hospitalized military patients. Working at McGuire Hospital afforded her the opportunity to forge lifetime friendships with paraplegics that she served in the Spinal Cord Unit. Bernice was very passionate about being able to work in her career and raise her children simultaneously. She enjoyed dancing with her grandchildren to her favorite song Golden Time of Day during the holidays. Family was everything to Bernice and her famous quote was family must stick together because we are all we have. She worked tirelessly to instill in her children good work ethics and to apply the Golden Rule in life, which is to treat others the way in which you want to be treated. Bernice leaves to cherish her memory her children, Terry Andrews, Sandra Jones, Thomas B. Parker, Deirtra Bray (Thomas), Kelly Parker-Harris (Lenny), and Fein Jordan (Eric); twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and ten great great-grandchildren; sister, Rosetta Rojas, Concord, CA; a devoted and loving friend, Antonio Andrews, New York, New York; two devoted cousins, Annette Lomax and Shirley Martin; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Parker; devoted family friend, Janet Bell; a host of nieces and nephews; and former co-workers/friends.
