Arthur G. Young

ARTHUR GARY YOUNG, son of Lucine and the late Donald K. Young, was born on October 2, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the fourth of seven children. Arthur was a playful student when he attended the Baltimore City Public School System. However, after he obtained his GED he persistently continued his education through the years when he attended the Community College of Baltimore, Catonsville Community College, Coppin State University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971. Arthur worked at vious jobs as a Cashier at Pimlico Race Track, Fiscal Specialist, Fiscal Auditor and Quality Assurance Specialist. His most recent employment was as an Enforcement Specialist with the Baltimore Office of Child Support and with the National Census Bureau. At an early age, Arthur married Edythe Mason. The marriage ended in divorce, but their union blessed them with two children, Tracey and Gary Young. Later, Arthur married Felisa Tuner and together they raised her three daughters, Sonja, Tyra and Kali Tuner. Arthur was a friendly, easy going, fun-loving person whose favorite pastime was dancing. He regularly went out dancing and was very meticulous about his appearances and took pride in looking good. He had a great sense of humor and was a jokester. Sunday afternoons during the football season you would find Arthur hanging out at his brother, Berry’s house. He loved cooking a variety of foods with his own special flair and sharing his creation. Listening to jazz, watching sports and being with his grandchildren made him happy. Arthur was a very strong, determined and hard working man who continue to work despite his battle with cancer. On October 17, 2010, Arthur departed this life after a lengthy illness. He leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife, Felisa Young; devoted mother, Lucine Young; loving daughter, Tracey Williams; son, Gary Young; three stepdaughters, Sonja Schmidt, Tyra Tuner and Kali Turner-Lodge; grandchildren, Mark, Kyle, and Jordon Williams; step-grandchildren, Bryan Turner-Bowers, Joshua Schmidt, Isaiah Willis, Pamela, Raquan and Raheem Ashe, Kalis and Ronnie Carter; step-great-grandchildren, Immanni Cordova; two sisters, Norma Y. Wyatt and Theresa Smith; three brothers, (Donald Young, his oldest brother, preceded him in death), Rodger Young, Frederick Young and Berry Young, three brother-in-law, three sister-in-law; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
