Alex Washington

On February 12, 2002, Alex and Ronda Washington were blessed with their first-born child, Alex Washington, Jr. Baby Alex was called home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2002. He was almost 10 months old.Alex, Jr. was a beautiful baby boy and an absolute joy to everyone who came in contact with him. His parents truly adored him and were thankful that he was born perfectly healthy, in spite of the complications Ronda endured during her pregnancy. Alex, Sr. and Ronda knew that Alex, Jr. was a gift from the Lord. During his brief life, Alex, Jr. touched many people's lives. He was a very happy baby who always had a smile on his face. Baby Alex's personality was developing very nicely; he loved interacting with others, a trait he got from both parents. He enjoyed playing with anyone who showed him friendliness and affection, and especially loved his daycare mother, Carlease, and the children that she cared for.Alex, Jr. was a popular member of the Aberdeen Bible Church family, although he was one of the youngest. A regular comment among church members was "He's such a good baby." Both Ronda's and Alex's coworkers regularly asked them to bring Alex, Jr. in for visits. He was such a pleasant baby who was rarely cranky, which was why he was always invited back to visit wherever he went.Although his time on earth was short, Alex, Jr. had a very full life. He was a very active baby who was beginning the first stages of walking and talking, and he loved to talk, a trait which he obviously got from his mother. Baby Alex loved to crawl rapidly about his home, getting into the things babies regularly get into (like cabinets, trash cans, laundry baskets and magazine racks). Baby Alex especially loved to wrestle around with his daddy or listen to a story read by his mommy. He also loved music, be it his mommy playing the flute for him, or the piano and choir at church.Baby Alex was very recently preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ellen R. Hamlet, who adored her grandson. Alex, Jr. leaves to cherish his precious, sweet life: his adoring parents, Alex and Ronda Washington; grandmother, Gloria Jones Butler; grandfather, Laurie C. Butler; godparents, Pastor Michael and Karin Waters; his loving daycare mother, Carlease Gwynn; Eleven aunts, 6 of which had a special relationship with Alex, Jr.: Beverly Giles, Carolyn Giles, Debra Carter, Diane Butler, Helen Hamlet, and Yolanda Parker; Eight uncles, 5 of which had a special relationship with Alex, Jr.: Allen Giles, Daniel Giles, Donald Carter, Earl Hamlet, and Martin Butler; Five great aunts: Evelyn Levi, Violet G. Hemsley, Sylvia R. Brooks, Barbara Ann Coleman, and Marva McCullough; Two great uncles: James M. Jones and Leonard Burrell; a special buddy and next-door-neighbor, Noah Haas; his Aberdeen Bible Church family; and a host of cousins, many "aunties," "uncles," and wonderful friends.
