Addie Virginia Hill Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ADDIE VIRGINIA HILL, affectionately called ‘Jenny’ by all that knew her, second oldest of five was born on October 28, 1933, in Sumter, SC to the late Thomas and Lucinda Anderson. She transitioned from this life of labor and love to her reward in heaven on Monday, February 21, 2022. At the age of seven, Addie and her family relocated to Baltimore, MD, where she received her formal education in Baltimore City Public Schools. She attended and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Always a spiritual woman, she began attending Highway Christian Church and was baptized in the mid-1980s. She remained a faithful member of the church, and Gospel Chorus until she was no longer able to attend. In the late 1940’s she met the love of life, Robert Louis Hill. The two were joined in holy matrimony on July 25, 1950. From this union six children were born, four daughters and two sons. In 1968 Addie (Jenny) began working for North Charles General Hospital in the medical records department where she worked for over 20 years, before transferring to the Outpatient Psychiatry Department at Union Memorial, where she stayed until retiring in 1992. She enjoyed history and politics and was an avid reader of Reader’s Digest and romance novels. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. You didn’t come to the Hill house without getting a taste of her homemade biscuits and fresh lemon sweet tea. She had a great relationship with all of her children and made sure each one understood just how much they were loved. She enjoyed summer vacations with her sister and quick getaways with her granddaughter. Addie (Jenny) made friends wherever she went, and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hill; and her children, Mark, Steven, Robin, and Glynnis Hill. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Rosalyn & Kendall Hill; one step-daughter, Pamela Watkins; four grandchildren; Kimberly Scroggins, Aaron Turner, Calvin Watkins, Cameron Watkins; three great-grandchildren, Paige Scroggins, Morgan Scroggins and Ayden Turner; several nieces and nephews that often looked at her as a second mom, and a host of other relatives and friends.
