Zella Jean Brunson

Zella Jean Brunson, daughter of the late Woodrow and Rosie Strahan, was born on May 4, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Zella received her education in Baltimore City Schools and worked numerous jobs before meeting the love of her life. She married Sterling Brunson Sr. October 2nd of 1979. Becoming a wife, homemaker and mother of three children was natural for Zella. She enjoyed cooking, making clothes, drawing, and decorating. In the early 90’s when her children were older, Zella obtained a nursing assistant certificate and began working at Blue Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly, and she was adored by her co-workers and patients. Zella knew how important it is to serve God and develop a relationship with Christ. She gave her life over to the Lord and joined First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church in 2005. There she was baptized upon her confession of faith on December 4, 2005. She loved attending church, hearing the choir sing, and the preached Word. Everyone knew Zella as a warm, loving person. She loved entertaining, dancing in her yard, having parties, and cooking homemade meals for her family and friends. Zella was a jazzy woman. She loved clothes and coordinated everything even down to her earrings and nurse shoes. On any given day after a day’s work, you could find Zella sitting on her front porch playing music, watching the hustle and bustle of Park Heights, speaking and smiling to everyone passing by. Zella was more than a wife, mother, sister, or even a co-worker; she was a friend and a support to all who came in contact with her. Her compassion and giving spirit will be dearly missed. Zella leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted husband, Sterling; 2 sons, Dalmont and Nicholas; 2 stepsons, Sterling Jr. and Stanley; daughter, Donna; son-in-law, Thomas; 2 brothers, Michael and Woodrow (Jerome); 3 sisters, Annie Ruth, Yvonne and Mary;2 sister-in-law, Jamie and Cecelia; 7 grandchildren, Nijhae, Niree, Dalmont, Justice, Peyton, Paige and Levi; 2 cousins, Larry and Thomas, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
