Yvonne Milberry Ramchandani

Yvonne Milberry, a woman whose heart knew no boundaries and whose tribe spanned the globe, passed away after a vibrant life. Born on June 16, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late James Williams and Mary Louise Milberry, Yvonne was a force of love, creativity, and connection. She is now reunited with those who went before her, including her beloved sisters: Delores “Lois” Ham, Mattie “Vernell” Milberry, and Velma “Joann” Peterson. As the last of her sisters, she carried their memories closely, ensuring the “Milberry technique” of love stretched far and wide. She was also preceded in death by many cherished nephews, nieces, and cousins. Yvonne leaves behind a magnificent tapestry of family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Serina Richardson; her son-in-law in love, Kelly Richardson; and her treasured grandchildren: Mia, Alani, and Zakia Richardson. To know Yvonne was to be adopted by her. Her massive, blended tribe includes her blood brother, Authur; her close cousins, Namon Hill (Brenda), Alonzo "Skip" Robinson, and Denise Robinson; and countless brothers and sisters, both by blood and from the heart. She leaves behind her nephews: Jaujuan, George (Sherita), Jonathan, and John (Daphne); and her nieces: Katherine “Kathy” (James), Carol (Julian), and Johnette (Robert). Her boundless love also embraced her "son from the heart" in Tanzania, Zakaria “Zak” (Catherine), and her grandbabies in love, Michelle and Miranda. Yvonne infused passion into every season and endeavor of her life. A talented culinary artist, she brought people into her world through her cooking during her days as a chef at Holiday Inn, The Flamingo, the VA Diocese, and the Henrico Courts. In Florida, she opened her own restaurant, Deli-licious, where she was famously known for her “loud doggies, not hushpuppies.” She was also a phenomenal painter and a well-decorated seamstress in her down time. Many of her creations continue to live on the walls of her church home and in the closets of family and friends alike. She was a loving “Mother” of Passion for Reconciliation Ministries, where she poured out wisdom and encouragement, urging others to always go where Yah leads and to step out on faith. This led her to Tanzania, where she spent her final days. Instantly embraced by everyone she met, she was lovingly called “Auntie,” though everyone truly knew her as a mom. Though it is impossible to name every single person whose life she touched, if you knew Yvonne, you understood the big picture. She used to always smile and say, "She (or he) loves themself some Yvonne!" and she was so right. We truly loved ourselves some Yvonne. She, along with all the beautiful pieces of the great tapestry that formed her life, will be cherished by each and every one of us forever. Remember her well!
