Yvonne C. Alston

Yvonne Carol Alston (Wilson), Wife of William M. Alston, daughter of Elijah Wilson and the late Elizabeth Wilson was born on August 14, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland, the third of five siblings. She departed this life on November 4,2008 after a very lengthy illness.Carol, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, received her education in the Baltimore City Public School system where she was an excellent student. She received her bachelors degree from Towson State University, and a Masters degree in religion from Xavier College. Carol began her employment saga working at Whitaker’s Corner Grocery Store, Food A’ra ma Grocery food chain as a Manager, and The Monumental Life Insurance Company where she later resigned due to the beginning of her health issues.Carol began her spiritual journey at a very young age at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church where she made her first communion and confirmation. Later, she attended Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Her spiritual growth there was gained through the many avenues in which she found herself such as: Sunday School Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Legion of Mary, The Catholic Daughters of The Americas, and she was involved in many other activities there. Carol had a good repertoire with the Priest and Nuns in and outside her community.In 1987, Carol transitioned to kind Worship Center (formerly known as Bethel Holy Tabernacle) under the leadership of Bishop Ralph L. Dennis and Lady Deborah Dennis whom she loved dearly. It was under this leadership that she truly accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was later consecrated as a Minister. During her time at Kingdom she taught Christian Education and became a valuable strength to the youth.After leaving this ministry, she began The Maranatha Prayer Phone Ministry. This ministry reached across the country and has touched many lives with spiritual counsel, support and love. To the Glory of God, she has led many to accept Christ as their personal Savior. Carol also has a pen pal ministry writing to inmates in various Institutions. She has mentored many young people, including one who is now an author of Christian books. She had the uncanny knack of remembering everyone’s birthday and important events in their lives and never missed an opportunity to acknowledge them.On May 2, 1997 she married Evangelist William Mc kinley Alston. Though there were no children born of this union, Carol has mothered many whom she embraced as her own.During the long battle with her failing health she remained faithful to God and always thanked Him for such a loving caring and faithful husband, who has been more than a champion during their life together. Yvonne has also been blessed to have her father as a father and friend through out her life. Her favorite saying will not be forgotten “I’m going to pray to on it, because God knows”Yvonne Carol Alston will be deeply missed among her family and many friends. She is affectionately known as our VOICE MAIL QUEEN!She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, William M. Alston, her father Deacon Elijah Wilson two sister-Agnes (Gloria) Gross, Terri Elizabeth Brunson, two brothers, Christopher Elijah and Roderick (Kevin) Wilson, nieces and nephews two brother-in-laws, Samuel Alston and John Horton, two sister-in-laws Karolean Edison-Alston and Brenda Horton, two lifelong friends-Grace Ferguson and Valencia White, and host of other relatives and friends and a multitude of spiritual children.
