Wylie Brown

WYLIE BROWN, born to the late Van Brown and Clara Evans Brown, departed this life on January 28, 2025, after a brief illness. He is now at peace and rejoicing with the Lord! Wylie attended Friendly High School in Chester, South Carolina, and later relocated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1964. Wylie was a hard worker; he worked for General Motors as an assembly and replacement operator from 1968-2003. After retiring from General Motors, Wylie enjoyed working on his red Camaro race car, going to the track, watching his favorite western movies, boxing, football, and car racing on YouTube. To know him was to love him. He was a friend to all those who knew him. Wylie enjoyed having fun and spending time with his grandkids and greatgrandkids. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles and horses. He was a true country man at heart with a laid-back demeanor and beautiful personality with an infectious smile. His favorite meal was pinto beans and corn bread. On September 4, 1974, Wylie met his longtime companion Sylvinia Leak, who has always been by his side. Wylie also came from a large family of 10 children. Five of his siblings preceded him in death; Lester Brown, John W. Brown, A.C. Brown, Clara Nell Strong and Sammie Brown. His remaining siblings currently live in Chester, South Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland. He has three beautiful children, Dennis Brown, his oldest son, Deborah Brown, his daughter and Wylie C. Brown, his youngest son. From these three beautiful kids, Wylie leaves behind a large lineage of (9) grandchildren and (5) great-grandchildren, all who refer to him as Pop Pop. Wylie loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely. Wylie leaves to cherish his memory: Sylvinia Leak (companion of 50 years); Dennis Brown (Sharon), son; Deborah Brown-Anthony, (Donald) daughter; Wylie C. Brown, son; (brothers) Bill Brown, and Joe Brown (Willie Mae); (sisters) Carrie Blakely, and Rosa Lee Crockett; Roslyn Boulevard Brown (sister-in law); grandkids, Dennis Jamal, Donald Jr., Wylie Jr., Christopher, Kash, Nickell, Prince, Kylie, and Kinsley; great-grandkids, Wylie 3rd, Amri, Zayden, Rhylee, and Kash Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One of Wylie’s long-time friends is Fat Albert, and special friends Johnny Barnes and Martha Lewis.
