Winston Herbert Guy

Winston Herbert Guy, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2014. He was born October 25, 1942 to the late Juanita R. Guy and Winston Lee Guy in Battleboro, North Carolina. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Burkeville, Virginia. Winston received his education in Nottoway County, Virginia graduating from Luther H. Foster High School in 1961. He furthered his education at Virginia State College in Petersburg, Virginia. He was certified in Barbering. Winston enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an Administrative Specialist at Beale Air Force Base, where he was honorably discharged. He joined New Testament Baptist Church in Sacramento, California and served faithfully as an usher. He was united in holy matrimony with Sharon Y. Rimpson on June 15, 1985 in Sacramento, California. He was employed by Pacific Gas Electric Company in Sacramento, California as a materials supervisor in the Warehouse Operations for 24 years. He retired and relocated to Chester, Virginia where he worked part-time at Martin’s (Ukrops) as “Mr. Dairyman”. In his leisure he enjoyed traveling, sports, entertaining and ushering. During the last ten years he received his spiritual teaching from Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Winston had an infectious smile, happy disposition and never complained. He was one who never judged you even though he may have thought you were wrong. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was known to be a man of many talents especially working around the yard and in the house. He was proud about serving in God’s house and being an usher with his favorite scripture being Psalm 84:10b ...I’d rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. He was a devoted husband and father, a job from which he never retired. He loved his family and was a hero and protector who brought wisdom and humor to any situation. He enjoyed life and always left you laughing or with a smile on your face. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Sharon Guy; 3 sons, Karl Towns (Rosalyn), Winston Guy, Jr., and Allen Woods; 2 grandsons, Justin Towns and Anthony Casey; 4 brothers, Albert Cannon, Lewis Cannon, Dwight Guy (Teresa), Labanuel Guy (Lucy) and devoted cousin, Christine Rowe; 4 sisters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
