Wilmer E. McEachin Jr.

A Godly life ended on May 9, 2013, when WILMER was taken from us. We know he is at rest with our Heavenly Father. After so much suffering by Wilmer, the Lord took him from all pain and took him to Himself, where there is no pain and no burden or tears. WILMER ERNEST McEACHIN JR., was born on March 9, 1948 in Newport News, Virginia to Wilmer and Alberta McEachin, who preceded him in death. Hewas known on the East Side to everyone as Snook. The East Side was where he attended school and graduated from City College High School. He was very active in sports, where he played and coached. He also held various jobs in the city, General Motors was one. Everyone knew he was one of the best cooks on his side of town; there were no limits to his menu, his fried chicken and fish were the best. He accepted Christ and became a member of New Metropolitan Baptist Church, under the leadership of his Pastor and friend, Rev. Richard Dickens, in the later years of his life. Snook was very enthusiastic about religion, he enjoyed reading the Bible and learning all the great things there was to learn about God. Along with his illness, he lost his speech, but he would smile when you talked about the Goodness Of God. Left to cherish fond memories of Wilmer (Snook) are: one daughter, Tiera Harris (husband Reginald Harris); (one son, Eric Ernest McEachin preceded him in death); six grandchildren, Ty’Shara, Tyshaun, Reginald III, Tleah, Rhyan and Rhiley; five sisters, Lillie M. Jones (Robert), Ernestine Goodwin, Vanessa Alford and Otella McEachin-Easton and Penelope McEachin, (sisters, Celestine, Victoria, Clarice and brother, Prenest all preceded him in death); three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Among his special friends, a very devoted one, Jenny Chapman. Snook you will be missed. I’M FREE Don’t grieve for me, I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me; I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play; Things left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy; A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow; My life’s been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief; Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Love, Lillie, Tine, Vanessa, Otella and Penny
