Willie Mae Green

Willie Mae Green (Muggie) departed this life on Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 80. She was born on March 24, 1933 in Darlington, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Henrietta and Lucius Backus and her husband Herman B. Green. Willie Mae was a product of Richmond Public Schools, having attended Maggie L. Walker High School. Muggie was employed with Richmond Public Schools where she worked for many years in food service. A job she loved. Willie Mae received Christ and was baptized at Seventh Street Baptist Church (later changed to Triumphant Baptist). During her years at Triumphant, she worked faithfully with the Ladies Auxiliary Ushers #2 until her health prevented her form serving. She was also a member of the Senior Missionary Ministry. Muggie had the personality that made people want to be around her. Everyone she met became a friend and considered their self as a part of her family. She had a big smile that radiated her big heart. She loved going on trips with Vickie and eating out at her favorite restaurant. Her sons were her personal chefs, preparing foods she loved: fried fish, ribs, chicken and strawberry ice cream. She was an avid coffee drinker. Good conversation over a morning cup of coffee and late evening coffee. She was not only loved by family and friends, but was a true neighbor in the community where she lived for many years. This was displayed by the love and support that was given to her by the neighbors. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four loving and devoted children; three sons, Alphonso, Herman, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Ivan; one daughter, Vickie M. Green Coleman (Rickey);eight grandchildren,Ladaris Robinson,Jafari Coleman,Tori Poindexter,Roger Hines, Jessica Green, Aaron Coleman, Kennard Coleman & Army Specialist Jaynard Coleman(Sheri);eleven great-grand children; two step-sisters, Mary Dean & Daisy Kirven;several nieces and nephews, including devoted, Melody Kirven;several loyal cousins, Dale Robinson,Rev. Ronnie Giles, Beverly & William Johnson(NJ)Orie & Tammy Williams(MD)& Wayne Bee & family(NY);devoted friends, Erma Milbourne,Catherine Alexander, Nadine Jones, Diane Lewis and Stephanie Robinson and other family and friends. "Your memory to us is a keepsake with which we will never part,though God has you in His heeping,we will always have you in our hearts"
