Willie Fraulien Patrick

WILLIE FRAULIEN PANNELL PATRICK arrived in this world on December 5, 1927 the youngest child of six to the late Bessie Jane (Holland) and James Edward Pannell in Roanoke, Virginia. On June 8, 2006 God called her home to her eternal rest. Fraulien was a product of the Roanoke City Public Schools. By the age of eleven she could keep house as well as any adult. She met and married the late John M. Patrick; from this union they had two daughters Sharon and Marcia. In 1954 they moved the entire family to Baltimore, Maryland. Mom had many nicknames "Frau," Ms. Pat, but Mom-Mom was her favorite. Along with her husband she loved to entertain family and friends at her Braddish Ave. home. She could put together a feast in matter of minutes. Her famous corn pudding recipe is still in the family. Mom loved to travel, and cover North America from Canada to Mexico, Martha's Vineyard to Florida, California and many places in between as well as cruises to Bermuda, Bahamas, and Jamaica. In 1959 along with her two daughters she joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Pastor Samuel B. Redd. As she began her Christian journey she joined the Willing Workers. Under the leadership of Rev. Charles E. Coger. She became a member of several ministries, Female Ushers, Outreach Ministry, and the Triple "L" Ministry. Pastor Coger appointed her to head up the Outreach Ministry, which was a labor of love for her, and got her whole family involved. In 1990 after twenty-eight years of service she retired from ARA Food Service. She served God and her Church until her illness. Fraulien leaves to cherish her memory: her much-loved daughters, Sharon D. Ray, Marcia R. (Michael) Robinson; one brother, Arthur J. (Josephine) Pannell; three sisters-in-law, Doris Pannell, Lee Esther Crouch and Vera Kendrick; two brothers-in-law, Dan B. Patrick and Bertram Patrick; two grandsons, Bryon P. Gray and Eric D. Lane; one granddaughter, Andrea M. Lane; great-grandchildren, Bryon Jr., Devon, Vincent, Carlisha, and Rynaesha; nieces, Berena Paschal, Enga Archer and Allyson Pannell; one nephew, Garland Pannell; a host of other relatives, goddaughter, Geneen Pryor-Elder; caregiver, Ms. Mozelle Holly; and best friend, Janice Williams; her sisters in Christ, Deaconess Anna Barber and Deaconess Rovena Middleton; and the entire Mt. Ararat church family. Her beloved son-in-law, the late Rev. Melvin L. Ray Jr., preceded her in death.
