William Wiley

Life is A Journey, Live it with trust... (Proverbs 3:5) WILLIAM WILEY, son of Frances Wiley and the late Raymond Wiley, was born on June 23, 1931 in Fairfield, South Carolina. Later in 1935 the family moved to Baltimore, Md. William was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon completing his education he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served and received an honorable discharge. On March 25, 1950 he married Helen Campbell (now deceased) who was the love of his life. From this union five children were born: William, Brenda, Francine (who preceded him in death), Loriann and Mary. Life is a Task; Live it obediently "Keep his commandments and do things that are pleasing in his sight." (I John 3:22) Being a son, a husband, a father, a brother, a grandfather, uncle and a friend were some of the jobs that he loved. His family meant the world to him! "Willie," as he was affectionately known, was gainfully employed by Potts and Callahan and later retired from the Social Security Administration. He enjoyed playing dominoes, completing crossword puzzles, cooking, visiting the Northeast Market and helping the senior citizens in his building. His favorite dish included sweet potatoes and fried chicken, which he proudly shared with his family. Life is a mission, Live it by faith. Early in life Willie decided to make Jesus his choice and joined New Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Black. He was a dedicated member of the Senior Usher Board, Charity Board and the Trustee Board. He served faithfully as a doorkeeper for the Lord, welcoming the saints and marching was his joy. He loved the Lord and lived by his faith. "Life is a race... Stand fast in the faith... be strong" (I Corth. 16:13) and fight the good fight. William departed this life on Monday, April 3, 2006 after a lengthy illness. He was dedicated and adamant because he knew the God that provides would guide and reward him. His soul was anchored in the Lord and he will rise again. He leaves to cherish fond memories: mother, Frances Wiley; son, William Wiley; three daughters, Brenda Wiley, Loriann Perkins and Mary Johnson; sister, Virginia Boyd; son-in-law, Godffrey; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Terrill, (Gina) Bryant, Derrick, (Candice) Meshon, Shiffon, Darron, and Gregory; eight great-grandchildren, DaShawn, Jamir, Jalen, Michael, Terrance, Treona, Courtney and Javion; one uncle, Elloss; brother-in-law, James (Idella); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. "We love you, but God loves you best!"
