William T. Richardson

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in him will I trust. Psalms 91:1-2On Sunday, November 25, 2001, William T. Richardson was quietly called home to be with the Lord. Bill, as known by his family and many friends was born to the late Katie and Henry P. Richardson on May 21, 1929 in Littleton, NC. Bill was raised in East Baltimore and attended the Baltimore City Public Schools. Following graduation, Sergeant William Richardson served in the United State Army and was honorably discharged December 1956. He was employed with Continental Can Company for 39 years. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of his family. He was a faith-ful caretaker of his mother, Katie and brother Mac, visiting them every day until their death. Bill was God-fearing man and he truly loved the Lord. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, However his most memorable years in serving the Lord were while he was faithful member of New David Baptist Church of Christ. Bill loved music. He was an avid lover of jazz and sang joyously for the Lord on the Men’s chorus where he served as the Treasurer. He was also a “stand-in” usher, always available when the ushers needed him. Bill was a devoted member of the Apollo Social and Democratic Club for many years and also served as President. Bill was a devoted family man. He and his wife, Eleanor (Reds) was inseparable. They enjoyed being together and were looking forward to celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary next year. Bill always encouraged and inspired his daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to always be the best that they could. He took good care of his senior neighbors and often prepared meals and cakes for them. Bill loved his old friends and always enjoyed talking about the good old times. He was an avid reader. Bill enjoyed a good conversation and was versed on many topics. Memories of Bill will be forever cherished by his devoted and loving wife, Eleanor; daughters, Linda Walker and Tasha; six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerome C. Richardson; five sisters-in-law, Lynnette, Inez, Dorothy, Harriette and Lynette (Cookie); one brother –in-law, Scott (Micky); two aunts, Clara Harvey of New Jersey and Maude Harvey of North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Missing YouIt’s lonesome here without you, Bill. Sad in every way, life will not be the same since you went away. I t broke our hearts to lose you, but did not go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
