William Smith Law

William Smith Law, was born on May, 28, 1944 to the late Ruth Smith Law and Hugh Law in Turner Station, Maryland. William was affectionately called Billy by his family members and Bill by many of his close friends and co-workers. Billy loved the Lord. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized at the New Elizabeth Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Billy was an active member in the Church until his illness made it difficult for him to attend services on a regular basis. Billy's pleasant smile will truly be missed durning the Sunday services. Billy's last act of public worship was on Father's Day; he was overwhelmed with joy as the Pastor, Rev. Wm Boyd and many of the members recognized his presence. With the support of his family he was looking forward to be able to again regularly attain services, but God had other plans! Billy's began his educational journey in the Baltimore County public school system. He attended Turner Elementary and Bragg Junior High School. He later attended the Baltimore Junior Academy located in Baltimore City. Billy completed his educational journey at the St. Emma Military Academy located in Gouchland, Virginia. Billy started working for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City in 1972. He retired after thirty-six years of devoted service. Billy was highly respected by his co workers and was known to share words of wisdom to his younger co workers. Billy had became the "quiet" patriarch of the Law family. Once he accepted Christ in his life; Billy became the guiding light for his family. He was the "rock" whom many of the family looked up to for guidance and advice. Billy loved to attend family outings and he loved a good home cooked meal. Billy never married, but had a beloved and devoted friend for twenty-five years, Addelbert Anita "Sissy" Ray. From this relationship Billy gained an extended family - two children, Wanda Peace and Andrea Peace; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great- grandchildren who loved him and affectionally called him pop-pop. On Monday, July 31, 2012 Billy suddenly, but peacefully departed this life. In his home surrounded by his love ones. Durning Billy illness he never murmured or complain, but was grateful for every day that God granted him. He was a living testimony of what prayer could do. When the medical professionals said he would have six years; but he believed God had the final say. Like Hezekiah God added years and granted Billy four more years then what the doctors said and to this Billy and his family was grateful. Billy was a family oriented man who was dedicated to his family. Having a strong family support system help to make his transition easier. Everyone stepped in to help where needed. When Billy was no longer able to drive Andrea step up and became his riding partner to all his medical appointments. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters - Mildred St.Cyr (Lennox), and Helen Russell; one devoted cousin, Barbra Green; one devoted niece, Denise Landrum (Keith); 1 nephew; 3 great-grand nieces; a devoted friend and confident Addelbert Ray, 2 children - Wanda Peace and Andrea Peace; nine grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren and a host of other family and friends along with his New Elizabeth Baptist Church Family. He will be truly missed but we rejoice in knowing that he lived this life to live again.
