William E. Taylor

DEACON WILLIAM ELMER TAYLOR, son of the late Thomas Edward Taylor and Willie Beatrice Taylor, was born on November 4, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on March 24, 2006 after a lengthy illness to go home to be with the Lord. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He spent most of his younger life in South Baltimore. He married the late Mrs. Sylvia Taylor and was blessed with six children. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a father who showed his children how to live for Christ and how to suffer and die for Christ. On Mother's Day, May 1955, Elmer and Sylvia Taylor accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. They joined the Wayland Baptist Church then located at Monroe Street and Franklin Street. He always remained active in the church. He served faithfully as a deacon and a choir member. In fact, Deacon Taylor enjoyed assisting the church in any manner needed. His church affiliation included: Wayland Baptist Church, City Temple Baptist Church, People's Baptist Church, Green Memorial Baptist Church, Victory in Jesus Baptist Church and Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. His love and dedication to God, his wife, his children and his relatives were a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Elmer was a giving, loving and kind-hearted person who placed the needs of his family before his own. Anyone who spent time in his presence could attest to his love, tenderness, wisdom, generosity, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We will always treasure the prayers that he prayed and the songs of Zion that filled the atmosphere while he demonstrated his love for God. He leaves to cherish his memory: six children, Ernest, Delores, Sylvester, Brenda, Randolph and Rudolph; four daughters-in-law, Shirley, Linda, Uelah, and Hilda; one brother, Herman Taylor; one sister, Martha Tyler; one brother-in-law, Vernon Moore; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Arnold and Ada Robertson; ten grandchildren, one grandson-in-law, one granddaughter-in-law, seven great grandchildren; a special friend, Laura Wilkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
