Wilbert H. Prior

Wilbert Henry Prior was called home from labor to reward on Tuesday, April 29, 2015 at the Carroll Dove Hospice House. Wilbert was born on June 29, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland to (late) george and Lucille Pryor. He received his early education while growing up in the Holabird Homes. He later attended Forest Park High School. Wilbert continued his education and earned a degree from Morgan State University, while working at Patuxent Institution. Wilbert accepted Christ into his life at an early age. As a young man he joined the United States Army serving his country in the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Wilbert returned home and continued his Christian journey at First Christian Community Baptist Church in which he was a very active member. Wilbert attended Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang on two Choirs, the Gospel and Senior Choirs. He had a beautiful voice and was always willing to sing whenever needed. He later served First Christian as a Trustee. Wilbert was first joined in matrimony to Brenda Kyle and from that union two sons were born, Wilbert H. Prior Jr. and Wayne M. Prior. He later married Regina L. Ray, and from this union one son, Chris, (his Boo), the love of his life was born. Wilbert had a great joy for sports. He loved attending athletic games with his son Chris. He was very active with Chris' skills in Basketball and Track & Field. While working his son's athletic skills, he discovered he had a love for teaching. He worked in the Carroll County Public School System for ten years until his health began to decline. Later he enjoyed playing cards games at the Senior Center in Carroll County. He was a very friendly outgoing likeable person and truly had a gift of gab and enjoyed talking with all in whom he came in contact with. He will sincerely be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish in memory: his loving wife, Regina; sons, Wilbert and Chris; Chris' fiancee' Linaya; his grandchildren, Rosanna, Maurice, Ayanna, Addison and Janae; his brother, Robert; sister, Pearl; sisters-in-law, Xenus, Jackie, Brenda, Emma and Vivian; brothers-in-law, Tony and Al; and a host of other relatives and friends.
