Warren Benjamin Pittman

“For I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:6-7 Warren Benjamin Pittman, affectionately known as “Ben” was born on February 13, 1966 to Listerine and the late Warren C. Pittman. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Littlefield and Tavis Pittman; maternal grandparents, George and Janie Hawkins. With God’s purpose and plan for his life complete, he peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Sunday, July 4, 2010. Ben was educated in the Richmond Public School System where he graduated from George Wythe High School in 1984. At an early age, he was baptized at First Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Ben was employed at Piccadilly Cafeteria for many years where he worked as a Baker. Through years of experience and continued formal training, his skill of baking was enhanced and he later was offered the position of Head Baker at Piccadilly’s in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Piccadilly later decided that his skill was needed at another location and offered him the opportunity to relocate to Greensboro, North Carolina. He resided in North Carolina for a brief period and then returned to Richmond, Virginia where he resided until his death. After returning to Richmond he was employed at O’Charley’s Restaurant. Ben was a loving person who could easily make friends wherever he went. He was not a person to complain. Even throughout his illness, he accepted what was put before him and just took every day in stride. He was an avid sports fan. In his younger years, he played tennis and basketball. Later he developed a passion for bowling and he played in many leagues. In addition to playing sports, he also loved watching them and was a dedicated Redskins fan. He was a movie fanatic who loved horror pictures. But, the most important thing to him was spending time with Dee-Dee the love of his life. Left to cherish his many precious memories are a loving daughter, Delisiah “Dee-Dee”, who was his shining star; devoted and loving mother, Listerine; devoted and loving sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Irving Johnson; four aunts, Jessen Marrow, Blanche Watson, Lillie Thorne all of Baltimore, MD and Minnie Neville of Philadelphia, PA; special friends, Marrio Howlett, Charles Miles, Ruth Smithers, and Shannon Saunders; devoted former wife, Vernalisa Pittman; a host of cousins, other dear relatives and friends. God’s Garden God looked around His garden and He found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’ s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering and knew you were in pain He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw that the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be Thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. ~The Family
