Warren H. Finch

Warren H. Finch, son of the late Agnew and Laura Finch, was born on November 4, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was peacefully called home on July 9, 2010 to be with the Lord. Warren was given back to the Lord at an early age. His Christian walk with the Lord made a major impact on his life and how he lived. He was educated during his early years in the Catholic School and graduated from Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1942. Immediately following his graduation from High School, he joined the U.S. Army where people gravitated to him and looked up to him for his leadership and caring spirit. He received and Honorable Discharge on January 11, 1946. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years. Stories of everyone he touched were always true and touching. His compassion for his co-workers and their needs when troubled always fell heavy on his heart and he would help wherever he could to make a difference in their lives. The Post Office was his second family. He was a “father” to so many. He loved his job and retired with wonderful memories, accolades and love from his co-workers and customers. In 1947, Warren married the love of his life, Nancy Weaver. What a pair they were. The love that started in the very beginning lasted for 62 years. During that union they had three wonderful children; the late Warren, Jr., Michael and Judy. They were the apple of his eyes. He always called Nancy “Doc”. She always dotted on him and loved and cared for him so much. They loved to travel. Some of the areas of excitement for them were Jamaica, Bermuda, Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and many more. They were such love birds and a couple to admire. So many of their family and friends looked up to them as role models. His nickname was “Pappa Warren”. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Even while he was fighting his illness he kept the love and sense of humor he found in his everyday walk of life in front of him, never changing. He loved to dance with the young people always trying to keep up, which everyone knew was truly too funny. He leaves to treasure his memory his loving Wife, Nancy; Son, Michael; Daughter, Judy; two Daughters-in-law, Joanne and Carolyn ; two Grand-Daughters, Tiffany Hart and Monique Finch; two Great Grand-Daughters, Maya Hart and Mekhi Finch; Sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Mickle, Frances Dorsey, Joyce Weaver and Tamera Johnson; one Brother-in-law; Kenneth Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
