Warren A. Land

WARREN ANTHONY LAND, SR. was born on April 14, 1961 at Provident Hospital to parents Roberta and Mason Land, Sr. On August 24, 2009, he peacefully went home to be with the Heavenly Father.At an early age, he was baptized at New Pilgrim Baptist Church. He later joined Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.He earned his high school diploma from Baltimore City College. He also attended Baltimore City Community College and Morgan State University. At the time of his death, Warren was actively employed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital where he worked for 30 years, cumulating in his position as a Receiving Supervisor in the Materials Management Department. During this time he was well liked and well respected and earned several certificates for his leadership ability.Warren's favorite pastime was watching Big Valley, Gunsmoke and sports of all kind. He was a true jokester with a big heart, whose mottos, "There's a lot of truth in a joke" and "Same thing that will make you laugh, will make you cry" along with his hearty laughter, will be remembered fondly. His legacy of believing that family comes first was truly portrayed in how he displayed his love and concern for his family.He is preceded in death by his father, Mason Land, Sr. and a son, Kendell Antonio Land. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Denise Scott Land; a son, Warren Anthony Land, Jr.; one grandchild, Madison Land, his mother, Roberta Land of Winnsboro, SC; two brothers, Mason Land, Jr. and Quintin Land of Baltimore, MD; two sister, Yvette Land-Davis of Winnsboro, SC, and Veronica Land-Davis of Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Ernestine Scott; four sisters-in-law, Beverly Land, Valerie Meyers, Chiquita Noel and Deborah Wright, all of Baltimore, MD; two brothers-in-law, Lynn Davis of Winnsboro, SC and James Davis, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; six aunts, Lillie Nelson, Marie Boulware, Winifred Neal, Marie Briscoe, Bertha Ruben, Bernice Talley, all of Baltimore, MD, Agnes Nichols of Philadelphia, PA, Mae Nolia Davis and Thomasina Davis of Winnsboro, SC and Earline Perry of Hartford, CT; uncles, Henry Boulware Sr. and Leon Noel of Baltimore, MD, Archie Davis and Willie Perry of Hartford, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
