Rev. Walter Adams Jr. A faithful man of God, loved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, Rev. Walter Adams Jr., 88, of Baltimore, MD, departed this life peacefully on Independence Day, July 4, 2015. He was born September 10, 1927, in Pittsylvania County Virginia, the fifth child of the late Walter Adams, Sr. and Nannie (Jones) Adams. He was domiciled in Baltimore City Maryland shortly after birth where he attended school and then continued to self-educate throughout his life. After a long illness, Walter departed this life on Independence Day, July 4, 2015. He married the late Rosalie Horn English in 1965. Of this union a daughter, Victoria Geraldine Adams was born. He also had four stepchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosalie Adams; parents Walter, Sr. and Nannie Adams, siblings; Lois Rivers, Clyde Adams, Harold Adams and Vincent Adams, and step grandson Robert (Bobby) N. Laney, Jr. In the early 1950’s he accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and testified publicly of his new beginnings with the Lord. He was a member of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Faith Church and later became a member of Faith Tabernacle Church. Rev. Walter Adams Jr. affectionately called “Uncle Scoopie” was a man who loved the Lord. He was a soldier for God. For many years he had a street ministry preaching the unadulterated gospel, passing out tracts, and winning souls for God. He was a musician, he became an ordained minister, pastor, missionary and he also had a radio ministry preaching the gospel. His love of people and serving God led him to feed the hungry and pray for the sick and shut in. His love for his family led him to initiate the first Adams family reunion in Baltimore city and as you know, he also loved to eat! He was employed with Glen L. Martin and later worked for the City of Baltimore for until he retired in 1978. He leaves in remembrance: daughter Victoria G. Pierce (Leroy Jr.) of Newport News, VA, grandson David Kelly, Jr., of Baltimore, MD, four stepchildren: Deborah English, Queen Esther Laney (Robert, Sr.), Timothy English (Que), Samuel English (Karen). Step grandchildren: Clinton Heard (Tanisha), Tamela Laney, Jaquay English, Sam English Jr., Rana English, and Sarah English, Kierren Lovick, DeAndre Pierce, Brittany Pierce and Tiffany Pierce, and 14 great step grandchildren. Siblings: Lawrence (Gloria), Martha Blue, Magdalene Chester (Lynwood), Carlene Goodwin, Thelma Curtis. Sisters-in-law: Juanita Adams, Jessie Mae Adams, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rev. Walter Adams, Jr. always said that the family that prays together, stays together. He believed faith without works is dead and Romans 14:12, “So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.”
