Vivia’s Journey Vivia Lee Austin- Nam daughter of the late Ivy Austin and Alfred Austin was born in Ulster Spring Trelawny on July 24, 1956. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in New Rochelle, New York. Vivia affectionately known as Vi-Vi to family and friends attended Uslter Spring Primary School before passing her examinations for the prestigious Dunrobin High School in Kingston Jamaica. After graduating high school, Vivia gained employment at Homestead Place of Safety where she remained employed until she decided to relocate to the United States of America in hopes of a better life for herself and her family. Vivia can be best described by family and friends as compassionate, loving, reliable and patient; which is why it was no surprise to others that she became a Caregiver upon her arrival to the US where she remained until God called her home. Vivia was a devoted family woman and loving mother to her three children- Michael, Stacey and Omar. Her greatest pride was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy and she was a constant presence in their lives, showering them with love, wisdom and care. She created lasting memories that they will treasure in her absence. Vivia was also a giver and would give her last to anyone in need. She was a constant source of love and strength, offering kindness, guidance and a warm, welcoming presence to all. Vivia will be remembered for her kind heart, her generous spirit, and the way she made everyone around her feel loved and cherished. In addition to family, Vivia had a passion for fashion and her closet was a curated collection of classic pieces, meticulously chosen over years of shopping. In her free time, she would spend the day browsing her favorite fashion magazines such as Ginny, Romans and 7th Avenue. Whether it was picking out the perfect gift for a loved one or hunting for a good bargain, she approached every shopping trip with enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail. Many of her family members fondly remember her love for finding just the right items, often surprising them with thoughtful presents that always seemed to fit perfectly. A woman of deep faith and devotion, Vivia found great joy and fulfillment in worship. Worship was at the heart of her life, and she lived each day with gratitude and a profound connection to God. Her faith and love for worship were not only a source of strength but also a way she shared her joy and hope with others. When she was not out shopping with her daughter Stacy, you would find her home tuned in to Youtube listening to her favorite worship songs and enjoying time with the Lord. Vivia leaves to cherish her memory, her children Michael Haughton, Stacy McKenzie (nee Dacres), and Omar Dacres. Three sisters Sylvia Fagon, Dorrett Austin and Pamela Austin. Six grandchildren Gabrielle, Omar, Devine, Jada, Damoya, and Joshua. Also, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Ralph Austin.
