Virginia Ann Prettlow

Virginia Ann Prettlow was born on April 21, 1945 in Burlington, North Carolina to the late Andrew Cohen and Geneva Jenkins. She departed this life on March 4, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Virginia was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and completed her educational career at Carver Vocational Technical High School. Virginia loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ as a child. She later became a member of Saint Stephens A.M.E. Church. Virginia was employed with Joseph Bank & Son as a seamstress for twenty years, Maryland Clothier for fifteen years and Mercy Medical Center until she retired three years later. Virginia was best known for her smile, "Witty comments" and outspoken attitude. She loved to dance and was always the life of the party. She really enjoyed looking out the window and watching television. Her favorite shows were: The Wendy Williams Show and Judge Judy. Virginia was fortunate to have the closest best friend, James Prettlow. James was Virginia's ex- husband, but they remained friends. When Virginia became ill, James was by her side from the beginning of her illness until God called her home. He loved her just as much as she loved him. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Kevin Evans; her daughter, Kellie Weathers (who was also her caregiver); one son-in-law, Michael Weathers; one sister, Patricia Little of Summerfield, Florida; six grandchildren, Sierra Evans, Kevin Evans Jr., Kenneth Jenkins, Keontae Jenkins, MiKell Weathers and Zaire Evans; one great-granddaughter, Bailey "Sophia" Evans (whom she named "Sophia"); one aunt, Naomi Walker of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two nieces, Stormi Epps and Windi Evans; long term friend of the family, Serita Nichols; best friend, Shirley Jenkins; and a host of friends Mom, My mind knows that you are in a better place where there is no pain. You are at peace. I understand that, I just wish I could explain it to my heart. There is an empty space in it that nothing will ever fill. Though I may grieve, I know my tears are just expressions of how much I love you. God has you in His arms, but l will always have you in my heart Love You Always, Kellie
