Virginia Iola Gault

VIRGINIA IOTA GAULT was born on April 23, 1923 to the late Charlie and Hattie Mason in South Hampton County, Virginia. At the age of five she moved to Baltimore with her parents. Iola, as she preferred to be called, attended Dunbar High School and the Community College of Baltimore. For many years Iola was a substitute teacher. This led to her receiving the position of Parent Liaison for the Baltimore City Public School System. Her love and concern for children made her an extremely effective Parent Liaison to the extent that her former students would stop her in public or visit her just to express their gratitude for the positive impact she had on their lives. Iola accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was a member of the nursing board, Ladies Progressive Club, dedicated Saturday morning Bible class and she was a faithful member of Vacation Bible School and looked forward to attending every year with her daughter Terri until her illness prevented her from doing so. She loved the Lord with all her heart and beamed with pride when her daughter Karen wore her usher uniform and her oldest daughter Patricia was accepted into the ministry. Because of Iola's generosity in assisting those in need, three of her off-spring chose professions in the helping fields. Mother taught us how to live and let live. To forget and forgive. The day you left us Denise woke up and God said wear something pink today, she tried to change but God said wear pink, little did she know that she was celebrating your life. Pink was your favorite color, which symbolizes the highest degree of excellence or perfection. We know that God needed you for His kingdom. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Daniel Gault Jr.; four daughters, Patricia Ann, Denise Iola, Terri Michele and Karen Renee; one son, Daniel Gault III; two sons-in-law, William Payne, Esq. and David Lee (one son preceded her in death, Herbert Gault); her sister, Barbara Mason and brother Charles Mason; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Falcon and Adel Holt; one aunt, Inell Stith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including her special friends Sherlean Langley and family, Telethia and JoAnn (Angels).
