Virginia H. Fleet

VIRGINIA HOWARD-FLEET, (Lil Baby) was born to the late Telsie Bailey- Howard and Jarvis Howard on December 15, 1923 in Grimesland, North Carolina. She was suddenly called home to be with the Lord, called to eternal rest on February 2, 2011. She was the last of sixteen children. Lil Baby (Ginny) Virginia received her early education at the Mother of Mercy School in Little Washington, North Carolina. She attended and completed her education at P.S. Jones, in Little Washington, North Carolina. She moved from North Carolina to Baltimore, Maryland in 1939, and pursed higher education and training. She then went to work at the University of Maryland Hospital, where she worked thirty-seven years and retired with honors. At an early age she was baptized at Davenport Temple in Little Washington, North Carolina. After relocated to Baltimore, Maryland she became a member of Mount Hebron Church of God and Christ. Virginia was a faithful member of New Faith Christian Community Church, since 1989. She was the Mother of the Church, and she loved to worship and praise the Lord. She was a member of The Pastor Aide, CW Choir, Bible Study and Sunday School. Her faith never waivered; One of her favorite scriptures was “…though he slay me, yet I will trust in Him.” She later married her friend and love of her life, Louis Benjamin Fleet, whom preceded her in death. Through an early marriage she was blessed with three children, with whom two preceded her in death, Ramona C. Henderson and Rollin Howard. Also preceding her in death most recently was her baby sister Doris Howard Surles, Mamie L. James and Addie Roles as well as thirteen other brothers and sisters. Lil Baby leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, Clevis Jackson; her babies great-grand’s, Jeffey Jr., Jazmon, Ly’ia, Henderson and Michael Jr. (Mike-Mike) Henderson; son-in-law, George M. Henderson, brother-in-law, Oliver James and sister-in-law, Virginia Howard; six grandchildren, Steven Howard Henderson, Staci H. Henderson, Shauna V. Stanley, Jeffrey S. Henderson, Sr., Khristian K. Edwards and Michael S. Burke, Sr.; two granddaughters-in-law, Lisa Batchelor-Edwards and Deidra Gamble-Henderson; along with four favorite ladies and one favorite gentleman whom she considered to be her grandchildren, Aundrea Colbet, Tammy McCartney, Ga’Nora Scott, Terrika Stafford and Danny Oliver; ten great-grandchildren, Shunia, Janae, Lauren, Keoko, Nataiya, Tytiyana, Kiyah, Sy;Niah, Jamira and Ga’Miera; five children whom she considered to be her great-grandchildren, Jamira, Jaden, Rachael, Lauren and Jessica; four great-great-grandchildren, Courtney, A’Ziyah, Makailah and Mashay; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends as well as a very special church family whom she loved dearly.
