Virgie Mae Smith

Virgie Mae Logan, was born on April 16, 1925, in Cherokee County, North Carolina, to the late Esau and Ruther Logan after a length illness our heavenly father, said “Well done my daughter I release you”, so He called her home on Saturday, January 3, 2009.He gently closed her eyes with the presence of a host of her love ones by her beside.Virgie Mae received her education in the Cherokee County North Carolina public school system. After graduating she was employed as a professional seamstress for many years before retiring.Virgie Mae Logan met the late Herman Lee Smith, and in 1941 they were married in Cherokee County, North Carolina. Of this union there were five children born, Mary, Dorothy and the late Herman (Donnie), including a set of twins.Virgie Mae was a member of Saint Peter’s Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, before moving to Baltimore, Maryland. She loved the Heavenly Father and always shared with her family the events at her church. She attended church regularly until her untimely lengthy illness incapacitated her.“Mommie, Aunt Mary, Aunt Virgie Mae, Grandmommie, Cousin Mary as she was affectionately called”, was truly blessed by the Heavenly Father with the gift of patience, understanding, a big caring heart, a generous spirit and the love to share in time of need for all. Family and friends cherished her for the gift to listen and the wonderful advice she gave. Her pleasant smile, tone of voice and ability to communicate made her easy to talk too.\Virgie Mae will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her loving memories; one brother, Matthew Logan, two daughters, Mary A. Barnes, Dorothy A. Davis, two sons-in-laws, Spencer F.Barnes Sr., Clarence Davis, one daughter-in-law, Mary E.Smith all of Baltimore, four sister-laws-, Evelyn Stohlman of Philadelphia, Pa., Jennie S. Hudgins of Wilmington, Del. Connie Logan of Baltimore, Md, Lois Logan of Grove, South Carolina, one brother-in-law Thomas Hudgins of Wilmington, Del., thirteen grandchildren, two which are deceased, thirty great-grandchildren, twenty-two great-great-grandchildren . Grand mom Bergie is her special name from the great-great grandsons. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special friends and neighbors Alethea Sellers, Anna and Mary Ann. Also the late Edna Barnes
