Vincent Rotonnie Hereford

Vincent Rotonnie Hereford, a Great Man, was born July 31, 1964 to Lue Edith Hereford in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 19, 2009. Vince was preceded in death by his grandmother, Edith S. Hereford; and uncle, Roger E. Taylor.Vincent was a fun-loving man, caring person who always put his family first. He was open, honest, and an inspiration. Vince never met a stranger. He welcomed many into his heart and home. He was never short of advice or opinion. Vince was the cornerstone of his family and his dedication was obvious to everyone. Vincent graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia in 1982 where he served as Quarterback #9 and led the Granby Comets to the Virginia High School League Eastern Regional Finals. He attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He entered into the United States Army in 1984. He served much of his time in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he mastered the infantry and later received an honorable discharge.Vincent was an extremely hard working man. Upon departing active duty in the Army, he served in the Army Reserve and became a Drill Sergeant. He was also employed by Northrop Grumman/Newport News Shipbuilding for 16 years. At “The Shipyard”, Vince excelled and later became a highly respected Radcon Monitor Instructor.Vincent met and married Michelle D. Freeman in 1989 and from their union was born two wonderful children. They resided in Glen Allen, Virginia for six years. Vincent was a sports genius and made sure you knew it. He loved them all, but his heart and soul rested in Football. This enthusiasm was evident in all conversations and interactions – Lifetime loyalist to the “Raider Nation”, “Silver & Black Baby!”. During the last couple of years, Vince took his love for Football and shared it with the Glen Allen Football Association where he was not only the Athletic Director, but Brandon’s Dad, and the Loud Vocal Sideline Coach!! Vincent was a father, husband, director, delegator, drill sergeant, coach, mentor, leader, son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family and he loved life.Vincent is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle D. Hereford; daughter, Brittainy M. Hereford; son, Brandon W. Hereford; loving mother, Lue E. Hereford; sister, Alicesa E. Foster; brother, Harvey L. Hereford; aunt, Mary A. Taylor; four uncles, Harvey Hereford, Jr. (Ruthie M.), William T. Hereford, John E. Hereford, and James Hereford, Sr. (Barbara); six nieces, Danesa A. Foster, Elena J. Foster, Bailey M. Foster, Melissa McMillan (Patrick), Tara Clyburn, and Courtney Calixte; two nephews, Marcus L. Hereford and Derrick D. Hereford; two sister-in-laws, Jacqueline Pugh and Monique Hereford; cousins, Johnny E. Hereford, Michael E. Taylor, Patrick J. Hereford and James Hereford, Jr.; one godson, Miles A. Clark; a Golden Retriever, Max; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
