Vicky Dianne Tates

Vicky Dianne Tates was born on July 27, 1954 to Malverine Davis Thomas and the late Raymond Thomas, Jr. in Baltimore, Maryland. After a brief illness, God called his angel home on July 17, 2012. Vicky accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young child at St. Mark Baptist Church. Later she joined Calvary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. Robinson. She stood strong in her belief and faith in God. She attended the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Northwestern High School in 1972 and Baltimore Community College as a Theater Arts Major. A significant part of Vicky’s life was her gift of dance and choreography. Recognizing this gift was her teacher and mentor, Mrs. W. Leblanc, when she studied at Peabody Institute. Vicky retired from the United States Postal Service after thirty-three years of dedicated service in 2009. She took pride in her job and performed her duties as a postal worker to the best of her ability while providing her customers with the best service possible. As a result of her work performance, she received many letters of thanks and appreciation from the customers she served over the years. After her retirement from the United States Postal Service, she began a new career as a leasing agent for the Maryland Management Company and became one of their top sales persons. Once again she demonstrated her unique ability to touch her clients with her love of humanity and sense of humor. Her flair for fashion made her beautiful on the outside, but her true beauty came from within. She had a zest for life and living, and her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Her beautiful smile would light up a room and everyone was happy to be in her presence. She was especially happy when she talked about her children and grandchildren. And lets not forget the fun times she spent going out with friends to eat crabs and dancing the line dance, “The Wobble.” Vicky added sunshine to the life of everyone she came in contact with and left a legacy of love to her family and friends. Thank you Vicky for bringing joy and happiness into our lives. We will miss you. She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Malverine Davis Thomas of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Angela Stevenson (Allen Stevenson) of Blackwood, New Jersey; one son, Andre Dennis (Nakiya Dennis); two sisters, Joyce Branch (George Branch) and Sandra “Tammy” Whittington (Kenneth Whittington) of Baltimore, MD; two aunts, Patsy Stanley of Baltimore, MD and Eliza Johnson Cummings of Chattanooga, TN; four uncles, Melvin Davis of Jamaica, NY, Allan Davis of Baltimore, MD and Donald Davis and Gerald Johnson of Chattanooga, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
