Vicky V. McNair

VICKY VERONICA McNAIR, the daughter of the late Jerome L. McNair Sr. and Susie L. McNair, departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2013, into eternal peace and rest. Vicky was born on January 21, 1954 in Littleton, North Carolina. She was the first of five children. She loved her father and was her Daddy’s little girl; he adored her and affectionately called her “Baby.” She received her education from Frederick Douglass Senior High School and Coppin State College, both in Baltimore, Maryland. Her spiritual beginning with Christ occurred during her membership with the New Psalmist Baptist Church, when she was a mere child. In recent years, she enjoyed the spiritual radio shows and reading the Bible. Vicky has been a child of God all of her life! Vicky was the mother hen and was very protective of her siblings and her mother. She was “crazy in love” over her daughter, Shanika (NeNe); and her granddaughter, Kaniya, both whom she called her “Girls.” Also, Vicky deeply loved her mother, sister and nephew, Larry whom she called affectionately, “Baby Dumpling.” She enjoyed family gatherings and truly felt blessed to be born into her loving family, both immediate and extended. She loved her fiancé Gerald Farmer and they were with each other until the end. Vicky was a hard worker at an early age. As a teenager, she worked at the Lorraine Place of Hair for many years and was very fond of the owner, Lorraine. Her love of beauty and good looks led her to enter the Miss Black Baltimore Pageant in 1974. Vicky had a fabulous figure and wore the shag hair style; she was cute and knew it. During the pageant, she was recognized for her hourglass figure. She was a” fly girl” at Coppin State College with her platform shoes and bellbottom pants. She also liked to sing and dance. Later on Vicky held several jobs in the sales industry before becoming ill and disabled. Although stricken with bad health to include cancer, Vicky was a tough cookie! The doctors predicted that she would only live for eighteen months after her diagnosis, but Vicky lived nine years, proving that God and not mankind has the final word. Vicky was preceded in death by: her father, Jerome L. McNair Sr.; and her two brothers, Kenneth McNair and Michael McNair. To the end of a full life, she leaves to cherish: daughter, Fareeda Shanika Pringle; granddaughter, Kaniya Maria Lee Rogers; mother, Susie McNair; sister, Dr. Glenda Mosley; brother, Jerome L. McNair Jr.; and sister-in-law, Tammi McNair of Huntsville, Alabama; fiancé, Gerald Farmer; stepfather, James Gamble; one niece; two nephews; one great-nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.
