Veronica Deloatch

Dorothy De’Loatch, fondly called Molly, was born August 29, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late George Handy and Mildred Brown. She was the oldest of six children. Two of her brothers preceded her in death, one as an unexpected illness.Dorothy was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. She met the late James De’Loatch of Suffolk, Virginia and they married in 1949. Dorothy was the mother of twelve children. Two of her sons preceded her in death, Jerome De’Loatch and Reginald De’Loatch.Dorothy dedicated her life to raising her children and some other grand and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family functions and get-togethers. She enjoyed telling stories, playing games, listening to music and having fun with her family. Dorothy especially loved planning and having the Annual Family Fun day, she would always be the one to take notes and she treasured the time spent at special luncheons with her sisters and brother-in-law, She also enjoyed having bible study with her grand and great-grandchildren.Through the difficult times in her life, her belief and faith in God never wavered. Dorothy accepted the faith of Jehovah’s Witness in the late 1950’s. She tried to instill belief and faith in God into all of her children, grand and great-grandchildren.After raising her family she pursued some of her life long dreams first learning to drive, although once she received her driver’s license she did not have too many willing family members who wanted to ride as a passenger, except for her loving grandchildren. Second, working in the field of health care. She went back to school and earned her certification as a geriatric nursing assistant. She was employed in home health and long term care working with the geriatric population.Molly, Mom, Grandma or Dorothy, whichever name she was called by, was the matriarch of our family and we will truly miss her giving of advice when needed, her words of encouragement, her telling stories of our family’s history, her directness, her always being there to listen to any problem, her way of making you laugh and her love other family and extended family.Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, James, Michael and Leonard; seven daughters, Lorraine Mosley, Yvonne, Doreatha, Veronica, Brenda De’Loatch and Hazel and Elaine Johnson; one son-in-law, Lawrence Mosley and one daughter-in-law, Norma De’Loatch; two sisters, Christine Hall and Creedella White and one brother, Robert Brown; one sister-in-law, Jessie Rich and one brother-in-law, Joseph Hall; nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
