Vanessa Olete Boyd-Knight

Vanessa Olete Boyd was born in Halifax County( Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina) to Catherine Royster Boyd and the late Elijah Boyd on July 7, 1971. She was the youngest of 14 siblings. Vanessa was baptized at an early age at Cedar Branch Baptist Church of Littleton, North Carolina. She joined Mount Gilead FGIM in Richmond, Virginia and remained a faithful member until the end. She completed her education in the Halifax County Public School system and was a graduate of the class of 1990 at Northwest High School in Littleton, NC. and a graduate of the Key Business College in Richmond Virginia. She was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Ray Knight on September 2, 2000 and from their union three children were born. Vanessa was a customer service representative with General Dynamic Information Technology,(formerly known as Vangent). Vanessa was a beautiful woman (inside and out). She will be missed by all. Because of the wonderful love she shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Vanessa made us feel fortunate to have had her in our lives and we feel empty without her,but she wants us to stay strong. Vanessa served as a role model for her family, friends and co-workers by displaying strength and courage throughout her life. She leaves to cherish their memory, husband; Samuel Knight, one daughter Samantha Knight , two sons, Edward and Jacob Knight all the Richmond, Virginia., mother Catherine Royster Boyd of Littleton, North Carolina, five sisters; Deloris Jeffries (Thurman) of Newark, New Jersey, Celestin Ashe of Brooklyn, New York, LaVerne Williams (David)of Littleton,North Carolina, Sandra McCullers of Newport News, Virginia and Cathy Porter (Efrem) of Richmond ,VA, six brothers;Deacon Glenford Boyd of Littleton, North Carolina, Bishop Joe Nathan Boyd, Sr.,(Claudette) of Brooklyn New York, Rev. Stafford Boyd (Jackie) of Roanoke Rapids, Stanley Boyd of Newport News, Virginia ,Arvis Boyd (Ernestine) of Roanoke Rapids and Bishop Darin Boyd of Buffalo ,NewYork, one sister-in-law and three brothers- in -law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Elijah Boyd, her mother in law Elma P. Knight and brothers Alvin and Ronald Boyd.
