Vailes David Knox

Vailes David Knox was born November 7,1948, to the late Vailes and Naomi Knox, in Baltimore, Maryland. On Tuesday June 10,2008, Vailes departed this life and went to his eternal resting place. Vailes, affectionately known as David, was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools where he graduated from Fredrick Douglass Senior High in 1966. Upon graduation, David joined the United States military. He proudly served his country in Korea and honorably discharged in 1969.David held many occupations. For over a decade, he was employed by Hutzler’s Department Store as a Truck Deliverer. Later, he gained employment as a Landscaper with Kenilworth at Charles Apartments in Towson. David held several positions in the Knox family businesses, thus, became a master and jack of many trades.David had an awesome green thumb and was very creative and loved to work with his hands. Everyone knew that David took exceptional pride, planning and preparation in his appearance. He embraced the compliments received from his matching shirt, pants, lizard skin shoes, Kangol hat on his freshly shaved shiny bald head and accessorized with sparkling gold and diamond jewelry frequently smiling and singing to the “Temptation” tunes.In 1967 David married the late Nadine Francis Banks, and from this union four children were born, Stephanie, Tracy, Vailes Jr. and Kimberly. In 1988 David married the late Myra Gray and fathered their son, Vailes Davesio. David was a very proud and devoted family man.He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Until there deaths, David diligently took care of his mother (Naomi), sister (Alverta), and wife (Myra), without complaining. David will truly be missed.Fond memories will be cherished by his three daughters, Stephanie, Tracy and Kimberly; two sons, Vailes Jr. and Vailes Davesio; one stepdaughter, Tyronica; four sisters, Mary Jones (deceased); Dorothy Gilmore (deceased); Alverta Green (deceased); and Elizabeth Gantt; two brothers, Clarence Knox (deceased); and Joseph Knox (deceased); three brothers-in-law, William H Jones Sr.; Raymond Jackson and Michael Gray; three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Knox, Charlene Gray and Clarice Johnson; two sons-in-law, Carl Chambers and Duane Ritter; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved and cherished him.
