Tyrone Virgil Powell

Tyrone Virgil Powell was born in New York, New York on August 11, 1955. He departed this life on January 4, 2014. Tyrone was the third eldest of eight children. He spent his early years in New York City and later moved his family to Asbury Park, New Jersey. He attended Asbury Park Middle school and Asbury Park High School. In the early ‘70s, Tyrone moved to Virginia. While there he became a father for the first time to his son, Tyshawn Conner. In the mid ‘70s, he relocated to Baltimore and later his two daughters, Tyeisha and Cheri’ were born. Tyrone was a hard worker all of his life. In addition to other places, he also worked for Baltimore Gas & Electric Company for seven years, for University Specialty Hospital (Formerly Deaton Specialty), M&T Bank (formerly Provident Bank) and Goodwill Industries. Tyrone loved his children, adored his brother and sisters, and honored his mother. He was kind-hearted person who never met a stranger. He had a positive disposition and a wonderful sense of humor. If you spent any time with him, he had you laughing before you left. If he thought you were trying to be “slick” with him, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell you,” Don’t play with me, play the lottery.” Playing card games and checkers brought out his competitive side, but in life Tyrone was a true team player. His strength came from his family, his upbringing and his mother. Tyrone’s time may have ended here on earth, but his journey is far from over as he lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, siblings, family, and friends with a love that will be cherished always. Tyrone is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Powell and Earline Powell Reid; maternal grandparents, John Henry Mobley & Carrie Williams; and paternal grandparents, Joseph Powell and Virginia Powell Allen. Tyrone Powell is survived by Son, Tyshawn Conner of Warner Robins, Georgia; Daughters Tyiesha and Cheri’ Powell of Baltimore, Maryland; Daughter-in-law Dana Conner of Warner Robins; Brothers, Kevin Powell Jr. of Killen Texas, Keith Powell (LaCadia) of Moreno Valley, California, Kevin Powell of Delaware, Timothy Franklin (Yvonne) and James Frank of Baltimore; Sisters, D’Andrea Powell of Long Branch, New Jersey, Cherlyn Ivey of Newport News Virginia, Beloved Former sister-in-law Sandra Powell of Baltimore, Maryland; Grandchildren Batya Conner and Amari Conner of Warner Robins, Don’ya Truesdale, Ty’Rell Powell, Ty’Ree Powell, Ty’Rek Powell, Aiyana Wilson of Baltimore; Devoted Caregiver, Beloved Friend and Tyeisha’s Mother, Dorothy Logan; Uncles, Charles V.
