Trina Cunningham

Trina Cunningham, was born December 4, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Fronie Cunningham. She departed this life on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 56. She was the oldest of four sisters. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where she graduated from Western High School in 1977. During her high school years, Trina was a star member of Western’s Track and Field Team. After graduating high school, Trina attended The University of Maryland-College Park where she majored in Political Science. Following her college years, she moved to Seacaucus, New Jersey. She was employed by The United Parcel Service before moving back to Baltimore to pursue a career in Culinary Arts. Trina loved to cook. She was known for her unique “sauces” and her signature dish, “Seafood Linguine.” She worked as a chef at some of Baltimore’s most popular restaurants including The Chart House and The Brass Elephant. Trina was ambitious and determined to help others. After working as a chef for a few years, she decided to continue her education by pursuing a degree in nursing. In the winter of 1999, Trina received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Maryland-School of Nursing in Baltimore. Trina’s first nursing assignment was at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she worked as a Critical Care Nurse. She loved being a Registered Nurse. After her tenure at Hopkins, Trina worked at The Veteran’s Hospital for several years before becoming a traveling nurse. Over the last few years she worked at various hospitals as a contracted nurse. Trina adored her most recent assignment at Saint Vincent’s Villa with Catholic Charities of Baltimore. She developed a special bond with the children she worked with. Trina was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church since childhood. She was a Lay Servant who occasionally delivered Godly messages to the congregation. Trina loved the Lord and her family, especially her mother. Very protective of her sisters, nieces and nephews, she always checked on them and made sure they wanted for nothing. No matter where Trina traveled, she was always the life of the party. Being spontaneous and well cultured, she had the unique ability to make friends with anyone, anywhere. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her parents, William and Fronie Cunningham; three sisters, Glinda Jordan (Earl), Frada Lynn (Wilbert), and Tamgra Samuel (Eddie); three nieces, Jessica Lynn, Breah Samuel, and Erin Jordan; three nephews, Wilbert Lynn Ill (Brittny), Wesley Samuel, and Earl Jordan Ill; one great-niece, Zaria Clark; one great-nephew, Devin Matthew Melton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
