Tianda Phillips

In the early morning hours of December 1st, 2024, TIANDA PHILLIPS departed this life at the young age of 64 and entered eternal rest with her family and friends that have passed on. Tianda, born on July 27, 1960, was the 9th of eleven children to the late Howard and Elizabeth Phillips. Raised in Baltimore City, MD, she was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Dunbar High School where she trained to become a Nurse’s Assistant. Tianda had a very strong work ethic that started while she was in high school. Tianda had her 1st daughter at the young age of 19 and was determined to make a life for her little one, as well as her 2nd, who was born just a year and a half later. Thru that determination, she became very motivated, working different types of jobs and learning new things. Above them all, her favorite job was being a Home Healthcare Aid to the elderly, which she did for many years. Mostly because it allowed her to take her children with her. She loved visiting her patients and took great pride in taking care of them by cooking and cleaning for them, doing their shopping and hair, and providing companionship to the loneliest of them. In fact, little did she know she’d meet her future husband and in-laws through one of her most favorite patients living in the Old Town Senior Bldg., Ms. Gladden, who in turn, looked out for Tianda and her daughters as if they were her own daughter & grandkids. She even taught Tianda and her girls how to play the lottery for her when she was unable to later in life, which they often won. Tianda married and went on to have 2 boys with the late Ronnie Bundy Sr. If you spent any time with Tianda, surely you will forever remember she had one of the most infectious laughs, and she couldn’t wait to “cut up” (as she’d say) whenever there was a good time to be had. Like the beautiful occasion when her oldest son Nelson wed his Wife in October of 2021. She was beaming with pride as she watched multiple generations eat, dance & laugh the night away in one space. Tianda loved good food, good music and a good time. Give her a wine cooler and some smooth R&B, like her absolute favorites: Anita Baker, Sadé, The Whispers, The Chi-lites, etc, and she’d be alright. Even though she moved around a lot, she lived on & loved the Eastside of Baltimore City dearly. Almost as much as she loved her cats, mint chocolate chip ice cream, watching people eat her cooking (like her famous spaghetti), and her favorite football team, The Baltimore Ravens. If you’ve ever watched a game with her, you might’ve wondered: does she think they can hear her yelling through the tv screen? Tianda had a very kind heart, was a loving mother to her children, and somehow nicknamed all of her grandchildren “Budah”. Tianda was preceded in death by her youngest son, Ronnie A. Bundy Jr., her parents, and all 5 of her brothers. Tianda leaves to mourn: two daughters, Tiquia Phillips and Kimberly Patterson (Ervin); one son, Nelson Bundy (Nikki); eight grandchildren, Deon, Parrish, Martez, Kya, Nelson Jr., Darius, Keagan and Nakiya; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Carsyn and Ky’Aire; five sisters, several nieces & nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memory
