Thomas Eugene Queen

Thomas Eugene Queen, the only child born to Eunice Gloria Lokeman and Thomas Queen, was born on July 10, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. Thomas, affectionately known as Tommy, received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from the world renown Baltimore City College. While in school, Thomas really enjoyed all of his math and business courses. He later worked various jobs, making sure he saved his money before he graduated from high school. Throughout Tommy's formative years, he began a true love for sports. He excelled in baseball and basketball. Tommy, his friend, Cecil, and cousins, Raymond, Ricky and Lenny went on to play in several recreation leagues winning numerous awards and championships. The group was so talented that other teams were less than thrilled to play the Fab 5. As Tommy matured, his love for sports stayed strong. He watched his Ravens weekly, and made sure his grandchildren knew all there was to know about the sports greats. In 1981, Thomas fell in love and married Valerie Norris. From this union they had two children, Makia and Marquis. Thomas had many roles in life; but the ones that gave him the most pride were father and grandfather. He was an especially caring grandfather to Justin and Tavon. He always showed his love and support for "his boys", always emphasizing the importance of a good education. Besides sports, tommy loved music. He traveled near and far with friends and family to see his favorite music acts live. Some of his favorites were Teena Marie, The Dramatics, The Ohio Players, Michael Jackson, and Prince- just to name a few. Tommy even accompanied his children to a G-Unit concert later in life. He made sure he was up on the latest tunes. He enjoyed listening to Run DMC, Tupac, and Biggie Smalls, with his children. On Wednesday morning, June 4, 2015, Thomas departed this life. He left everyone behind with his great sense of humor and kind words. Holding on to loving memories of Tommy are: his loving mother, Eunice Lokeman, his father, Thomas Queen; his brother, Cedrick Queen, his sister, Vanessa Queen; devoted daughter, Makia Queen; caring son, Marquis Queen; the apples of his eye, grandsons, Justin and Tavon; aunt, Vashti Franklin; lifelong friend, Rodney; and a host of other relatives and friends.
