Thomas Berkley Parker

Thomas Berkley Parker, affectionately known as Berkley, was born on September 8, 1960, in Richmond, VA, to Thomas P. Parker and Bernice Q. Parker. He departed this earthly world on May 23, 2024. Berkley grew up in Church Hill, Richmond, VA, and attended Richmond Public Schools. In 1980, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country proudly and receiving an honorable discharge after a couple years of service. For 26 years, he worked for the City of Richmond as a Supervisor in various departments. Throughout his career, Berkley was known for his resourcefulness, dedication, and the respect he garnered from colleagues. He participated in numerous work competitions, relishing the fun and travel they offered. Outside of work, Berkley cherished time with his children and family. He enjoyed fishing, setting up in-home aquariums, watching wrestling with his boys, drag racing, and trips to Bass Pro Shops. A true handyman, he loved fixing anything, from cars to household items. He loved to watch action movies with the family and loved Chicago Med, Fire and 911 TV shows! Berkley had a knack for making others laugh and smile, and his loving, protective, warm-hearted, modest, and dependable nature touched all who knew him. Thomas Berkley Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas P. Parker and Bernice Q. Parker. He is survived by his father, Antonio Andrews; his life partner, Denia Alexander; and his children: Kevin Burrell, Chenika Mills (Jerrell), Shannon, Emily, Thomas Jr., JaQuaz, Michael, Brittani, and Christopher Parker. Bonus children, LeeAnder Taylor, Gary Jr., James and Kierra Alexander. He also leaves behind five sisters: Terry Andrews, Sandra Jones, Deitra Bray (Thomas), Kelly Parker-Harris (Lenny), and Fern Jordan; 11 grandchildren Kh’mya Edwards, Kevin Burrell Jr., Lailah Jerman, Kristopher Bruce, Ja’Kyi Mills, Ro’Mel Mills, Jaiden Parker, E’Maun Mills, Kaylani Parker, Zakariah Mealey and Kennedy Parker; one great-granddaughter, Nayomi Burrell; the mothers of his 3 eldest daughters, Cheryl Parker, and the mother of his eldest son, Janet Bell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
