Thomas Knox

Thomas Knox Sr. was born March 7, 1922 to Will and Rosalee Knox, the oldest of four children. His siblings James Sr., Ruth Potts and Bernice McCrae all preceded him in death.Brother Knox, as he was lovingly called, received his education in Philadelphia. He would later move to Baltimore, Maryland. Brother Knox was employed by the Montebello State Hospital until his retirement in 1982.Brother Knox loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a young man, he joined the First Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Winfield a. Showell. He would be baptized, filled with the Holy Ghost, and faithfully begin to serve. He continued to be steadfast to the ministry under the leadership of hi Pastor Bishop F.C. Showell.He met and married Mary Knox, and together they were the parents of four children.Brother Know loved the people of God. He was a member of the Intermediate Choir and the Inspirational Choir, until they became the Women's Choir under the direction of the late Brother Rossie Grant, the late Bro. Andrew Collins and until his death under the direction of Bro. Walter Collins. His service unto the Lord has not only been recorded in Heaven, but there is also a record of his service here on earth, as many of us witnessed during the showing of the church's History Presentation; Bro. Knox's face was one that we saw during the many pictures shown.He loved sports and often sat in the hallway or at the back door listening to his radio, passing out Daily Bread and a peppermint or two.He looked forward to his many visits at the March Funeral. He would often stay of hours greeting family and friends who would come for viewings. He would make sure to order the church fans and calendars before journeying home. He will be missed by all who knew him.He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Duane and Thomas Jr.; two daughters, Dawn and Rebecca Knox; a host of grandchildren ,too many to name, and he had much love for all; a devoted godson and his wife, Joseph and Marcia Hall; three goddaughters, Delcine Pulley, Dora White and Gladys Warren; two nieces, Eloise Mason and Rose Potts; two nephews, David Whiting and James Knox Jr.; a host of great-nieces and nephews, and his entire church family.
