Thomas A. Bunn

Thomas Allen Bunn, Sr.was a loving father to his children, brothers, and sisters.He was a leader, humanitarian, and devoted friend. Thomas was born on October 3, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York of the late William E. Bunn and late Cecila I. Bunn. He was 65 years old when he departed from this life on February 29, 2016. Thomas Allen Bunn Sr., known sincerly by his friends and family as Tommy .He was an active member of South Congregational Church in his youth. There he sang on the choir and played on the church basket ball team in New York. He later coached the junior basketball team. He received his high school diaploma from Boys High School and attended John J Community College of Criminal Justice. Tommy began working at the age of thirteen years old. Tommy worked as an intern at Belview hospital. He began to work as a counselor at Brooklyn Corrections facility where he enjoyed talking to the youth. He organized many affairs and events in New York. He had a chrismastic personality and the ability to connect with any class of people. Airman First Class, Thomas Bunn Sr. served in the United States Airforce for 4 years during his service to his country he served in the Vietnam War. He was injured at war and honorably discharged. A fighter through any challenge, Thomas Bunn Sr. continued to work through his injury. He moved and became a correction officer for the State of Maryland. Through out his life, Thomas Bunn Sr joined many organizations and programs to reach veterns and youth in need. During his membership with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #451, he advocated for dedication of prisoners of war and veteran memorials. Throughout his life, he received several Patriot National Roll of Honor for his service. He assisted Americans, worthwhile charitable causes, his service to American GIs and Veterans span to those who serviced in Middle East. In 2012 and 2013 he received the Patriot of the Year from the Help Hospitalized Veterans Organization. Thomas Allen Bunn Sr. was raised to the Degree of Master Mason in 2002 and was distinguished for his zeal and fidelity to the Craft. He leaves to mourn: two sons, Thomas A. Bunn Jr. Aberdeen Proving Gr, MD, and Matthew I. Bunn Joppa, MD; Four Daughters Myell I. Williams (Donald Williams son-in-law); Daughter, Kimberly M. Bunn Edgewood ,MD Crystal J. Bunn, Baltimore, MD Kanaiah Schultz, Brooklyn, NY ; six grandchildren Daniel, David, Thomas III, Jeremiah, Joshua, Cameron; three brothers, Clarence E. Bunn, Richard Bunn(Diane) Mark Bunn three sisters, Gail P Mullen(Paul),Melody Bunn, and April Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by: Brothers William Bunn, Ronald Bunn, and Sister Joyce Bunn .
