Theressa Brooks

On Sunday, March 21, 2010, around 12:30 in the morning God called home our dear, beloved Theressa “Mama T” Wright Brooks. Theressa was born on January 8, 1924, to the late Augustus T. Wright and Lucy J. “Dort T” Wright in Hanover County. Theressa was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Felix C. Brooks. She received her education from Shiloh School and later joined First Shiloh Baptist Church, where she remained an active member her entire life. A true family matriarch, Theressa was a Godly woman who loved life and loved people. She was especially fond of animals, plants and everything in God’s great outdoors. Kindhearted and generous to a fault, she was always willing to help anyone in need – from charities to children to churches – and gave freely of her time and talents to uplift others. She was loved, honored, and revered by many because she was so kind and gave so freely of herself without the thought of receiving anything in return. Theressa started her own family with her first-born son, Thomas Leon “Bobby Lee” Wright. Theressa later married Aubrey Bailey and they had one son together, George Ronald “Ronnie” Bailey. Years later, she met and married her husband, Felix, whom she dearly loved. Those who remain to cherish her memories include her two beloved sons, George Ronnie (Gloria) Bailey and Thomas “Bobby Lee” Wright of Mechanicsville, VA; three granddaughters, Tammy (Karl) Bailey Robinson, Ghia (Delvin) Bailey and Olga (James) Jeter of Richmond, VA; two grandsons, Brian Wright and Wayne Wright of Mechanicsville; five great-grandsons, Nicholas Bailey, Isaiah Macon, Corin Jeter, Naeem Jeter and Kavon Wright of Richmond; one great-granddaughter, Aliaha Wright of Richmond; two stepsons, Joe (Jerryline) Bailey and Wesley (Jackie) Friend of Richmond; a stepdaughter, Felicia “Pinky” Friend of Alexandria, VA; one brother, James (Marsha) Wright of Richmond; one sister, Thomasine Wright of Richmond; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Bailey of Fredericksburg, VA, and Carolyn Wright; a special friend, Mike Nicholson; and a host of very loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
