Theresa A Brewington

THERESA ANN BREWINGTON, (also known as Tisa), was born on May 20, 1961 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Johnsey Y. and Lt. John Brewington. At an early age, Tisa’s family relocated back to Maryland, where she attended Baltimore City schools. Tisa was raised in a Christian family and she too had a relationship with the Lord. From a young age, she attended St. James A.U.M.P. Church in Towson, Maryland. After Tisa graduated from Northern High School, she was blessed with her bundle of joy, Jennifer Franklin. (Jennifer was always her heartbeat.) Later, Tisa attended Morgan State University and University of Maryland Global Campus; graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree. She went on to work for Verizon Business as a Large Account Executive. As she was a caring people-person, and while employed with Verizon she became a Chief Union Steward of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). Theresa was passionate about politics and being a civil servant. Her enthusiasm provided the opportunity to serve as a member of the NAACP of Baltimore, Democratic National Committee (DNC) as well as the American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU). Additionally, she had the honor to work with Senators Barbara Mikulski and Elijah Cummings. Tisa was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006, and retired from Verizon shortly thereafter. Given her desire to stay engaged, her faith in God afforded her the opportunity to continue in the political arena. She continued to work on various Presidential campaigns, and support other civil servant avenues. Theresa was resilient in persevering through many challenges until succumbing to her illness. On May 2, 2024, Johnsey and John Brewington wrapped their loving arms around their baby girl, Theresa Ann Brewington and took her home. Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Lt. John Brewington; mother, Johnsey Y. Brewington; brother, Captain John T. Brewington. Left to grieve, honor, and cherish her memories are: devoted daughter, Jennifer Franklin (Nykki); brother, Gregory A. Brewington; god-daughter, RéVyn Cynclaire Smothers; bonus sisters, nieces and nephews, bonus children, grandchildren and other family and friends
