Thelma Bailey Lonesome

THELMA LONESOME was the beloved daughter of the late Rose and David Bailey, Sr wife of the late Kenneth M. Lonesome, sister of the Mary Louise Smith Thomas and David Bailey, Jr She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. She attended Faith Baptist Church as a child and City Temple of Baltimore in her adult years. Thelma married Kenneth M. Lonesome in 1945 and was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. From this union they has seven children: Erma Elaine (deceased), Kenneth Sinclair, Karen Elizabeth, Earl, Davis, Grace Louise, Paul Ernest and Charles Ellsworth (deceased). Thelma made sure her family was always happy and healthy from their early years at 404 E. Oliver to 311 E. 28th St. All of her relatives were always welcome at her house, especially for summertime cookouts and holiday open house parties. For many years she also a member of a ladies club of Po keno players called Jollyettes. Thelma ensured tat whenever her family and friends were together everyone had a good time. In her personal time, Thelma loved planting and caring for flowers, decorating for the holidays and reading a good book or magazine. Everyone knew not to interrupt her during the Price is Right, Dr Phil, Oprah, and the Sunday morning gospel shows on radio and TV. Over the years the family has experienced many losses: loved ones, parents siblings, grandparents, children, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Through it all, Thelma (affectionately known as Granny) was our strength and our rock at all times- always ready with words of wisdom. Now she walks with those who passed before her. She She leaves for us to cherish her unforgettable smile and love: her surviving five children; her eleven grandchildren , Antonio Lonesome, Brian and La Shawn Bailey, Peter III and Kenya Griffin, Gregory Griffin, Mark, Kenneth Lonesome Jr., Jonathan Bailey, Christopher and Devan Lonesome; nine great-grandchildren, Taavone Jr., Janay, Stephone, Davonte and Angelique Lonesome, Dominic and Leia Griffin, Harmoni and Amari Lonesome; six great-great-grandchildren, Taavone Jr., Asia, Kliaija Jordan, Quinton and Armiyah Lonesome; her daughter-in-law, Marie Lonesome; son-in-law, Peter J. Griffin, II; three sister-in-law, Helen, Vern ell and Ida lonesome; and many loving; cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
