Thearis Delores Green

THEARIS DELORES GREEN, daughter of Lucille Koonce and the late Frank Koonce, was born December 3, 1947, in North Carolina. She departed this life Thursday, April 6, 2006. Thearis moved to Baltimore, Maryland as a child and grew up in Cherry Hill. She attended Edmondson High School where she would meet Clinton Green whom she would later marry and who is the father of her two children, Tanya and Clinton. Her upbringing also included a move to 2901 RockRose Avenue. This house, which she shared with her mother and children would be the center of so many memories, for Thearis most of all loved her mother and children. She made sure her children were a reflection of her. If she had on new clothes, her children had on new clothes. And, where she went, her children went with her. During Christmas she would make candy houses for her family. Valentines Day would always mean special gifts for her children. A nice spring day would bring a bike ride with her children in Druid Hill Park. Summers were spent at Gunpowder Beach, pools, picnics, cookouts. Easter would bring egg hunts, a new suit for Clinton and that stylish hairdo for Tanya via the hot comb! Educational games and tools for her children were plentiful. Good music from Ashford and Simpson, New Birth, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and the Commodores filled the house. And, never far away were her friends and their children - Ms. Dorothy, Miki, Sandy, Shirley and their family; or Carmilita, Debbie, Reese and their families. Thearis worked at Procter & Gamble from 1979 to her retirement in 2003. She always seemed to supplement her income with a direct sales opportunity, whether it was Mary Kay, Avon, or otherwise. She was a hardworking woman who knew how to stretch a dollar until it hollered. Everything about her was always in order. Her wardrobe was stylish; her home was immaculate; her car was always clean and in great condition. As her mother got older, she would run errands for her mother and make sure she had whatever she needed. As her children got older, she would give them a taste of tough love and share with them advice on relationships, finances, and happiness. And, she would include her son-in-law, Greg, as well. She adored her grandchildren Tiaone, Greg Jr., and Malika who affectionately referred to her as "Mommy T." She was always at the graduations, the birthday parties, and giving them lessons on life. Yes, she was a mother. Thearis leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Lucille; children, Tanya and Clinton; son-in-law, Gregory; grandchildren, Tiaone, Greg Jr. and Malika; and a number of other relatives and friends.
