Terri T. Pittman

MINISTER TERRI T. GILMORE PITTMAN was born on April 20, 1958 in Baltimore, maryland to the late Thelma and the late DJ Gilmore. After a lengthy illness, on Sunday, August 17, 2014 angels gathered around her in her home in accordance with God's command “Loose Her,” they gently took her home to be with her Heavenly Father. Although she will be missed by many, her life has served as a beacon of perpetual inspration to not only us but also many generations to follow. Terri's legacy will always be remembered for she embraced with conviction the love of “family and church.” At a tender age, through the teaching of her parents, Terri understood the importance of having Christ in her life. She joined the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church on April 4, 1972 under the pastorate of the late Dr. Samuel B. Redd and was baptized May 5, 1972. Terri remained a faithful member under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles E. Coger until her health failed her. She became a licensed, ordained Minister in 2005, where she was proud to announce her calling. Terri received her education in the Baltimore Public School System, then furthered her education in Colorado at Trinidad State College. She took pride in her profession in the Customer Service field. She enjoyed sharing her voice throughout Baltimore and surrounding counties. She had a special gift of writing and acting which she never gave herself credit for but would always say her gifts were a blessing from God. The Lord blessed Terri in marriage to Eric D. Pittman with thirty-three wonderful years. Unknowingly to her, the Lord had a special plan for her and later gave her charge as Surrogate Mother to Ra'chell, Sherell and Ja'nell. Later she was blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren. She centerd herself around her family that she loved and adored very much. One exceptional act for which Terri will be remembered is her undying compassion to serve others when they were in need and unable to fend for themselves. She always had a word of encouragement to all, many will miss her many acts of kindness and her generous spirit. Terri leaves to cherish and celebrate great memories: her devoted and beloved husband, Eric Pittman; three daughter, Ra'chell Chmielewski (Brandon), Sherell Smith (Micah) and Jan'ell Townes; two sister, Judy Patterson and Sheila Townes; three brothers, DJ Michael, Melvin and Ray A. Pittman, two brothers-in-law, Charles and Jerome Pittman, two sisters-in-law Sylvia and Maurese Pittman; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a devoted friend Michele Douglas; a god send Lafrances Frazier and other friends.
